Annual Pet Parade brings out variety of animals!

    The annual Fourth of July Pet Parade in Mifflinburg thrilled the bystanders with a variety of animals, wagons and bicycles as Judy Muchler led on her bicycle with patriotic music playing.  Bringing up the rear was an entry by the Herr Memorial Library with Carol Grove and her children and their two dogs. Forty-eight participants walked the several blocks to the community park where judges selected the Grand Champion. Breanna and William Busler, children of Jessica and Brad Busler, pulled their rabbit and turtle in a wagon entitled “The Tortoise and the Hare.”  Five categories of entries were awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd places and all place winners received cash prizes.  All entrants were able to select a prize, compliments of the Mifflinburg Kiwanis.
    Prizes winners were as follows:  In the “Big Dog” category, first place went to Alex and Andrew Reed with their dog, Madison. Second place went to Maddie Brown with her dog Molly and third went to Reid Bair and his dog, Bella. In the “Small Dog” category, first place went to Kelsey Bohn and her dog, Dascha, second went to Katelyn Bohn with Ginger and third went to Amanda Reid with Shadow.  In the “Cats” category, Annika Klinefelter was first with Romeo, second was Taylor Mil-ler with Boom-Boom and third went to Summer Reamer with Woody.
    In the “Other” category, first went to Paige Rhyne with her goat, second went to Alayna Meiser with her bearded dragon and third went to Rigel Bechdal with his chicken. In the “Bikes, Buggies and Wagons” category, first went to Auryanna Goss who had her sheltie in a wagon, second went to Lily Eberhart with her dressed-up cat in a wagon and third went to Paige, Dalton and Trudie Santer with their dog in a wagon entitled “Did you hug your pet today?”
