Last Saturday, Mifflinburg Heritage & Revitalization’s Main Street program hosted its first Business Expo at Sterling Mills.  About 30 businesses participated in a day full of networking with both the public and business to business.  Approximately 100 people attended this first Expo.  All of the businesses provided door prizes which ranged from gift certificates for printing or newspapers, construction, free furnace cleaning, for use at a business, catering, food, and more.  Businesses represented included artisans, home and garden, car and cycles, furniture, contractors, long term care facility, banks and personalized services.
Demonstrations were also held throughout the day including Barb’s Bouquet and Gift Basket, Potoeski Decal, Dave Aucker scrimshaw artist, Cutting Edge Laser Engraving and Country Farm and Home.  S&M Catering and Green Ridge Country Market provided free food tastings and Green Ridge also brought their barbecue and had chicken dinners available.  K-C Horse Riding provided free horseback rides to children and B98.3 and 106.5 were present doing live remotes.
Attendees had an opportunity to vote for Best of Show for the business they thought was the best looking one there.  Country Farm and Home won the honors for the first Expo and was presented a plaque that was made and donated by Cutting Edge Laser Engraving.
While this was occurring, eight students from Susquehanna University joined MHRA’s Elm Street program’s Safe, Clean and Green Committee  and the Mifflinburg Rotary for a clean up day in the historic district.  Work included setting up the cutting flower garden beds, mulching, brick work, weeding, planting flower boxes and general clean up.
