Packwood House Museum was the scene of a gourmet Italian meal for eight lucky diners on Saturday evening, April 5. Carol McManus of Air Management Technologies in New Columbia was the winner of the museum’s fundraising raffle. Accompanied by seven guests, Carol was greeted at the front door of the museum by Butler John Baker and his assistant, Bucknell senior Nadia Vedder, and shown into the reception room of the museum, where the guests were welcomed and served champagne and hors d’ouvres.
Meanwhile, the museum’s Champagne & Orchids Committee assembled a gourmet Italian meal that included soup, lemon sorbet, and the main course, braised braciola of beef with ricotta handcrafted pasta. After this course, the museum’s executive director, Dr. Richard A. Sauers, conducted the guests on a tour of the first floor. The guests then returned to the dining room for their choice of rich desserts, coffee or tea, and after dinner liqueur.
The Museum’s Champagne & Orchids Committee, chaired by Barbara Baker and assisted by Theresa Eichhorn, worked for several months to prepare the menu, test it to ensure quality and taste, and do all the little things that together made this an enjoyable evening for Ms. McManus and her guests.
The annual Champagne & Orchids Dinner is one of Packwood House Museum’s major fundraisers and is an eagerly awaited event in the Lewisburg area.
