Middle School announces December Students of Month

    The Mifflinburg Area Middle School announces its selections for the P.R.I.D.E. Award for the Student of the Month for December.  Students are selected by their teachers on the criteria of Positive attitude, Respect for others and Regular attendance, Involved in at least one extra-curricular activity, Demonstrate honesty and integrity, and have Enthusiasm for learning.  At the Awards Assembly at the end of the school year each recipient will receive a certificate, cash prize, and Lions Club memento from the Millmont West Union Area Lions Club, the sponsor of the Student of the Month Award.
    Nolan Beck is in sixth grade, the son of Tom and Lindsay Beck. He has two sisters and one brother and lives in Mifflinburg.  In school his favorite subject is social studies. He is a member of the school band and choir. Nolan is a Boy Scout, and an Altar Server at his church.  He enjoys basketball, soccer, and baseball.  In his spare time he likes to spend time with his friends and go camping with the Scouts.  In the future, Nolan would like to be a CIA Agent.
     Caroline Benfer is in seventh grade.  Her parents are Jeffrey and Susan Benfer and she lives near Millmont.  Her favorite subjects in school are algebra and social studies, and she is a member of the band and chorus and participated in Song Fest and SV Band.  She is a member of the Girl Scouts, 4-H, and is active in her church, Lincoln Chapel.  In her spare time Caroline enjoys bike riding, hiking, reading, drawing, singing, taking care of her animals, and playing board games with her family.  In the future, Caroline would like to be a doctor or a teacher.
    Kayla Kline is in eighth grade, the daughter of Bill and Heidi Kline.  She has one brother and lives in Mifflinburg.  Math and communications are her favorite subjects in school where she is a member of the choir, Builder’s Club, and National Junior Honor Society.  She plays basketball, softball, and field hockey in school.  Kayla is a member of the Nor Cen Penn Soccer Club, and ASA softball. She has been competing in NFL punt, pass, and kick for the past six years (see right). She is a helper at her church Bible School at First Presbyterian Church of Northumberland.  In the future, she would like to be a teacher.
