Mifflinburg March students of month honored

    The Mifflinburg Area Middle School announces its selections for the P.R.I.D.E. Award for the Student of the Month for March, 2012. Students are selected by their teachers on the criteria of Positive attitude, Respect for others and Regular attendance, Involved in at least one extra-curricular activity, Demonstrate honesty and integrity, and have Enthusiasm for learning.  At the Awards Assembly at the end of the school year, each recipient will receive a certificate, cash prize, and Lions Club memento from the Millmont West Union Area Lions Club, the sponsor of the Student of the Month Award.
    Emily Hamm is in sixth grade, the daughter of Bob and Jenn Hamm.  She has two sisters and lives near Lewisburg.  Her favorite subject in school is communications and she is in the school chorus and the Builders Club.  She is a member of the fifth and sixth grade traveling basketball team, attends dance class, and is a member of her church youth group.  Emily likes to draw, and play basketball.  In the future she would like to be a teacher or a pro basketball player.
     Leah Dunkle is in seventh grade. Her parents are Steve and Reva Dunkle. She has one sister and lives in Mifflinburg.  Math is her favorite subject in school where she is a member of the National Junior Honor Society.  She is a member of CMF, youth group at her church, and she enjoys running and spending time with her friends.  In the future, Leah would like to be a nurse.
    Cody Botts is in eighth grade, the son of Cory and Bobbie Jo Botts.  He has one brother and lives in Millmont.  Math, especially algebra II, is his favorite subject in school where he is a member of the National Junior Honor Society.  He also plays Wildcat football and basketball.  He is a member of the youth group at West End Bible Fellowship and he enjoys spending time with his friends.  In the future, Cody would like to be a sports anchor for ESPN.

    The Mifflinburg Area Intermediate School has also announced its selections for The Lion Cub Award for Student of the Month for March, 2012.  Teachers select students who are respectful, hard-working and positive leaders in their classrooms.  At the Awards Assembly at the end of the school year, each recipient will receive a certificate, cash prize, and Lions Club memento from the Millmont West Union Area Lions Club, the sponsor of the Student of the Month Award.
    Lauren Fultz is in fourth grade, the daughter of Don and Renee Fultz.  She has five sisters and one brother and lives in Laurelton. Her favorite class in school is gym class. Lauren enjoys playing basketball, and watching field hockey. In her spare time she likes to draw pictures, and likes to play with her dog, Jelly.  In the future she would like to be an artist.
    Amanda Schlegel is in fifth grade. Her parents are Kim and Greg Schlegel. She has one sister and lives in New Berlin.  Math is her favorite class in school where she is a member of the school band.  She enjoys playing basketball, and likes to watch soccer games. In her spare time Amanda likes to swim and play wii.  In the future she would like to be a nurse.
