Recently, the Mifflinburg Rotary Club received their charter for the club. The Rotary Club is based on the ideals of developing acquaintances as an opportunity for service as well as maintaining high ethical standards in all aspects of life while serving the community and society. The club believes in keeping the Rotary ideals throughout all aspects of their personal, professional and community lives as well as develop international understanding and goodwill throughout the business world and the community. The club motto ‘Service before Self’ says it all.
The Mifflinburg Rotary club has exemplified these qualities by taking part in such events as the Relay for Life, Light the Night Leukemia Walk, Kelsey’s Dream Fall Festival, Buggy Days and raising money for a well building project called Jonathan’s Well.
At the charter night, the charter members were installed, along with the officers by Rotary District Governor Jim Gruber with guest speaker and Past District Governor Karen Teichman, who was also responsible for helping to start the club in Mifflinburg.
Several other Past District Governors were in attendance for this great event, Mike Nailor, Walt Lutz and Corbett Monica all were in attendance and all are Past District Governors. Assistant Governor Rick Coup attended and took part in helping the club develop. Several other’s were in attendance such as Mifflinburg's mayor Dale Walize. There was a great show of community support for the new service organization.
With a group of motivated, service oriented members, this club is up and running and ready to serve both the global and local community. Those interested in joining may contact any member or attend a Rotary meeting. The meetings occur every Tuesday at the Scarlett D Tavern and Mifflinburg Hotel at 6 p.m.
