Mifflinburg schools announce April Students of month

    The Mifflinburg Area Middle and Intermediate schools have announced their selections for Student of the Month for April.  Teachers select students who are respectful, have good citizenship, complete homework, and are positive leaders in their classroom.  At the Awards Assembly at the end of the school year, each recipient will receive a $50 savings bond from the Millmont West Union Area Lions Club, the sponsor of the Student of the Month Award.

    Austin Walter is in sixth grade, the son of Stephen and Kelly Walter.  He has two brothers and lives in Mifflinburg. In school, science is his favorite subject, and he is a member of the school choir. He enjoys playing flag football and baseball where he is a pitcher. Austin is a member of the youth group at First Lutheran Church, and in his spare time enjoys spending time with his friends and family.  In the future, he would like to be an actor or a major league baseball pitcher.
    Olivia Finerghty is in seventh grade.  She is the daughter of Mike and Richelle Finerghty. She has one sister and lives in Mifflinburg. In school, her favorite subject is social studies, and she is a member of the chorus, Builder’s Club, soccer team, and cheerleading squad.  Olivia is active as a volunteer with Kelsey’s Dream, All-Star cheerleading, the summer swim team, and she is a member of the youth group at her church.  In her spare time she enjoys spending time with friends, shopping and reading.  In the future she would like to be a marine biologist.
    Adriana Grabski is in eighth grade.  Her parents are Glenn and Elizabeth Grabski.  She has one sister and one brother and lives in Mifflinburg.  Music and Art are her favorite subjects in school, where she is a member of the chorus.  She is the President of the National Junior Honor Society.  Adriana is a member of the Sunbury YMCA Swim Team, where she won first place in the state of Pennsylvania for swimming.  She went on to compete in the YMCA Nationals Swim meet in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  She is also a member of the Mifflinburg Aquacats Summer Swim Team.  In the future, she would like to be a psychiatrist, or a homicide detective.

Intermediate School Students of the Month (l. to r.): Zane Patterson and Samantha Orren.

    Zane Patterson is in fourth grade, the son of Alison and James Patterson, and lives in Mifflinburg.  In school his favorite class is math, and he is a member of the school chorus.  He also enjoys songfest, enrichment, and math exploration at school.  He is a member of the Cub Scouts, and favorite sports are football, basketball, and golf.  In his sparetime, Zane plays video games, collects Pokemon cards and likes to hang out with parents.  In the future he would like to be an inventor of video games.
    Samantha Orren is the daughter of Thomas and Shelly Orren.  She has one sister and lives in Mifflinburg.
    Math is her favorite subject in school.  She enjoys playing basketball and field hockey.  In her spare time she enjoys riding her horses, swimming, watching baseball, and going camping.  In the future, Samantha would like to be a veterinarian.
