On March 29th pool tournaments were held in the social quarters to benefit the Mifflinburg Area High School Athletic Department. Thirty members and guests participated in doubles competition, and twenty five participated in singles competition. A donation was sent to the school to help defray the cost of student participation in school’s athletic programs.
On April 26th a second tournament was held at the Lodge to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). On October 2nd the Society will be having a Light The Night Walk at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA. They hope to raise over $35,000 for LLS's critical cancer research, patient services and other programs.
Twenty four members and guests participated in the doubles competition, and nineteen participated in the singles.
The pool tournaments were a joint effort of Lodge 1396 and Chapter 1279 as part of our continuing commitment to community service. A donation will be presented to the LLS at the Lite The Night Walk in October.
