Schools announce January students of month

    The Mifflinburg Area Middle School announces its selections for the P.R.I.D.E. Award for the Student of the Month for January.  Students are selected by their teachers on the criteria of Positive attitude, Respect for others and Regular attendance, Involved in at least one extra-curricular activity, Demonstrate honesty and integrity, and have Enthusiasm for learning.  At the Awards Assembly at the end of the school year, each recipient will receive a certificate, cash prize, and Lions Club memento from the Millmont West Union Area Lions Club, the sponsor of the Student of the Month Award.
     Cody Mabus is in sixth grade, the son of Kirt and Stephanie Mabus.  He has one brother and two sisters and lives in Millmont.  Math and phys. ed. are his favorite subjects in school where he is in the choir.  His favorite sports are football and baseball.  Cody enjoys spending time with friends and going on vacations.  With so many jobs and vocations to choose from Cody is unsure of his future plans at this time.
     Deziare Smith is in seventh grade, the granddaughter of Timothy and Jackie Eddinger and lives in Millmont.  In school her favorite subjects are social studies and science, and she is a member of the band, chorus and Envirathon. She is a member the youth group at her church, and has first degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do.  Softball and basketball are her favorite sports. Deziare enjoys hunting, fishing, swimming and riding bike.  In the future she hopes to do some work with wildlife.
    Alex Haines is in eighth grade. His parents are Scott and Jennifer Haines.  He has one brother and lives in Mifflinburg. Tech-Ed is his favorite subject in school, where he is a member of the National Junior Honor Society, TSA, Stock Club and plays soccer and football. Alex is a member of the Boy Scouts, indoor soccer team and swim team. He is also a member of the youth group at his church.  He enjoys outdoor activities, such as camping, fishing, and hunting, and spending time at his cabin.  Also, he enjoys skiing and biking.  In the future Alex would like to be an Engineer or an Architect.

    The Mifflinburg Area Intermediate School also announces its selections for The Lion Cub Award for Student of the Month for January.  Teachers select students who are respectful, hard-working and positive leaders in their classrooms.  At the Awards Assembly at the end of the school year, each recipient will receive a certificate, cash prize, and Lions Club memento from the Millmont West Union Area Lions Club, the sponsor of the Student of the Month Award.
     Gavin Enders is in fourth grade, the son of Rob and Sue Enders.  He has one brother and lives near Mifflinburg.  In school his favorite class is writing.  He enjoys playing baseball, basketball, and soccer, and likes to watch football.  Gavin likes outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing.  In the future he would like to be a major league baseball player.
     Emaleigh Greb is in fifth grade.  Her parents are Suzanne and Eric Greb.  She has one sister and two brothers and lives in Mifflinburg.  Math is her favorite class in school, where she is in the school chorus.  She enjoys playing soccer, and likes to watch hockey, football and baseball.  Reading is her favorite pastime.  In the future Emaleigh would like to be a doctor.
