The Mifflinburg Area Middle School announces its selections for the P.R.I.D.E. Award for the Student of the Month for April 2012. Students are selected by their teachers on the criteria of Positive attitude, Respect for others and Regular attendance, Involved in at least one extra-curricular activity, Demonstrate honesty and integrity, and have Enthusiasm for learning. At the Awards Assembly at the end of the school year, each recipient will receive a certificate, cash prize, and Lions Club memento from the Millmont West Union Area Lions Club, the sponsor of the Student of the Month Award.
Audrey MacPherson is in sixth grade. Her parents are Cherie and Bryan MacPherson. She has one brother and lives in Millmont. Communications is her favorite subject in school where she is a member of the Art Club. She takes tennis lessons at a local church. Audrey enjoys reading, running, and art work. In the future, she would like to be an interior designer, photographer, or veterinarian technician.
Destiny Yearich is in seventh grade, the daughter of Jody Yearich and Steven Lucas. She has two sisters and three brothers and lives in Mifflinburg. In school, her favorite subject is Math. She enjoys riding her horse and riding her four wheeler. In the future, Destiny would like to be a professional horse rider.
Noah Hornberger is in eighth grade. His parents are Larry and Rhonda Hornberger. He has one sister and lives in the village of Mazeppa. Tech Ed. is his favorite subject in school where he is in the choir, president of TSA, a member of the National Jr. Honor Society, cross country team, and captain of the soccer team. He is active in his Youth Group at church, “Chosen Generation,” a member of the AYSO, and NCP Soccer. In his spare time, Noah enjoys playing Air Soft, Xbox, listening to music and spending time with his friends, and eating at Subway. In the future he would like to be in the technology field.

The Mifflinburg Area Intermediate School has also announced its selections for The Lion Cub Award for Student of the Month for April 2012. Teachers select students who are respectful, hard-working and positive leaders in their classrooms. At the Awards Assembly at the end of the school year, each recipient will receive a certificate, cash prize, and Lions Club memento from the Millmont, West Union Area Lions Club, the sponsor of the Student of the Month Award.
Chloe Houseknecht is in fourth grade, the daughter of Melissa and Russ Houseknecht. She has one sister and one brother and lives in Mifflinburg. Her favorite class is with Mrs. Troup, and her favorite subject is math. She enjoys watching soccer games, and enjoys being a cheerleader. In the future, Chloe would like to be a teacher.
Karli Hackenberg is in fifth grade. Her parents are Ryan and Mindi Hackenberg. She has one brother and lives in New Berlin. Her favorite subject is reading, and she is in the school band and the Art Club. She is a member of the Youth Group at her church. Karli enjoys playing softball and watching hockey. She is a cheerleader for Pennsylvania Elite. In the future, she would like to be a softball player or an artist.
