Susquehanna Life Magazines has donated $710 to the Buffalo Valley Rail Trail, Lewisburg Area Recreation Authority’s ambitious project to link Lewisburg and Mifflinburg with an off-road trail that provides a safe place for residents and visitors to walk, bike and jog—even commute to work.
The money was collected by funneling to the rail trail $5 from each new Susquehanna Life Magazine subscription for a six-week period in 2009, from mid-November to the end of December.
“We’re pleased to help move forward the Buffalo Valley Rail Trail project with this donation,” said Shames. “If you look at Pennsylvania towns—
and regions nationwide—that have taken the bold step to transform an unused rail line into a rail trail you’ll find increased economic development, in the form of new businesses that spring up around the trail, and overnight visitors who fill hotel rooms and dine at local restaurants. I’m thrilled this project is finally coming to fruition, and would love to see other projects like this one emerge.”
