Sixteen students in the nurses aide program at SUN Area Technical Institute, New Berlin, are doing their clinical rotation at RiverWoods Senior Living Community. The students attended an orientation session on RiverWoods and will work on Evergreen and Fernwood Wings two days a week for eight weeks. The program is a state approved Nurse Aide Course and students meeting the requirements are eligible to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program Examination.
“We enjoy serving as a learning center for area students,” said Cindy Wolfe, RN, Restorative Nursing Coordinator. “It is an excellent experience for them to work with older adults and our residents enjoy having new people to visit with them,” she added.
SUN Area Technical Institute provides area students with skills needed to compete in today's job market and receive consideration for advanced college placement. SUN Tech also offers adult education classes, vocational education, and technical career training, serving over 1,500 people annually.
