For the third year, The Mifflinburg Telegraph has participated in the Week of the Young Child, a yearly celebration to focus attention to young children and their families along with the agencies who take care of young children. This celebration is sponsored by the National Association for the education of Young Children (NAEYC).
As in the past three years, The Mifflinburg Telegraph delivered free books to the children at the Mifflinburg Children’s Center Head Start program. This year they gave each child a copy of “Chicken Little” and Darlene Sharp, the secretary at The Mifflinburg Telegraph, read the book to the children.
This year marks the 150th Anniversary of the Mifflinburg Telegraph being in print and celebrations are already planned. Through the middle of May to the middle of June the Mifflinburg Buggy Musuem will feature a display about the local newspaper. On June 9th, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., there will be a special day where the Mifflinburg Buggy Musuem will celebrate the newsaper with special activities for the children.
