    From the Mifflinburg Telegraph, January 5, 1953—

    Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Wetzel spent Christmas Day with Paul Spangler and family at New Berlin. Miss Lucille Wagner, of New York, spent the weekend with her parents Mr. and Mrs. John Wagner. Bright Boyer, son Wayne, and Annie Boyer, spent last Thursday with Bruce Boyer and family in Lewisburg. Donald Boyer who is stationed in Wyoming is spending the week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Boyer. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Boyer entertained to dinner Christmas Day, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Mabus and daughter of Lewisburg. Mr.and Mrs. Elwood Catherman and children of Mifflinburg and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Musser of this place. Prof. E.P. Boyer and wife, Mifflinburg, called at the Bright Boyer home last Friday.
    Mr. and Mrs. Donald Johnson entertained the following Christmas Day: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Johnson, Mazeppa; Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Johnson and children, Lewisburg, R.D., and Mr. and Mrs. Mac Johnson and son and daughter of Light Street. Mrs. Forrest Wagner and daughter of Lewisburg called at the home of Bright last Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Emory Brouse were recent callers in Mifflinburg. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Beck, son Gerald, spent last Thursday evening with the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Smith, Aaronsburg, RD. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Shirk  were guests of Mr. and Mrs. A.B. Iddings and family on New Year’s Day. Mrs. Pauline Rotering spent New Year’s Day at Lock Haven with Mr. and Mrs. Leo Albright. The Gutelius sisters, Misses Sadie and Lillian, entertained to New Year’s dinner Mrs. Florence Yagel, Mrs. Edith Fox, Miss Margaret Lodge, and Joseph Foster. Mr. and Mrs. George Snyder and son Timmy, of Lock Haven, spent New Year’s with Mr. and Mrs. R.R. Finkel. Mr. and Mrs. James Hoover, Miss Myrtle Thompson of Mifflinburg, and Miss Mary R. Thompson of Orange, N.J., were dinner guests of Mrs. Allison Miller of Huntingdon and Mrs. Helen Holder of Harrisburg at the home of Mrs. Holder in Harrisburg Monday, Dec. 19, 1952. Mrs. Holder is state president of the Gold Star Mothers of Pa. Miss Mary R. Thompson returned to East Orange, N.J. after spending the holidays with her sisters and brother-in-law, Miss Myrtle Thompson and Mr. and Mrs. James Hoover. Mr. and Mrs. Herman L. Englehart and son Herman, Jr. were dinner guests of the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Englehart and family, Christmas.
    Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Landis Yerger on New Year’s evening were Mr. and Mrs. Harry D. Addario of New Berlin, and Mrs. Charles Kessler, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ruhl and daughter Dianne of town. Mr. George Klushin and children visited Mr. and Mrs. John Bassett and family at Livonia on Monday. Clair Moyer and son Ivan of Willow Grove spent Friday evening with Mrs. Pauline Rotering. Mr. and Mrs. Charlton Diefenderfer and daughter Andrea Lee, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Bollinger and daughter Pam, Mr. and Mrs. William Kerstetter, Jr., the honored guests of Mr. and Mrs. Neil Van Buskirk and Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Harter and son, Harry. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Heim spent the weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Heim in Lewisburg and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Haney in town. Mr. Heim left on Sunday afternoon for Harrisburg. He will leave this week aboard the S.S. Hugh Purvis for the Mediterranean. Mrs. Heim, the former Phyllis Haney, has accepted a position with the staff of nurses at the Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg and will remain with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Haney. Habie Rabusk , student at Franklin and Marshall visited with George Steese on Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. J. Randall Winter of Huntersville and granddaughter Susan Hazen of New Cumberland spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Raymond B. Winter. Mrs. Slokevich of Frackville and Mr. and Mrs. Mostic of Lakeside, visited with Mr. and Mrs. Chester Slokevich and family Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. William Shafer and children Gary and Kay of town visited with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Peters and family on Saturday evening.
    Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hoffmaster and daughter Dianne of Lewisburg, R.D., Mrs. Paul Gharret and son Robert of town called on Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Jordan, Jr., and family at Mifflinburg, R.D. on New Year’s afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Thomas of Great Bend visited with Mr. and Mrs. W.  Z. Sleighter during last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Simpson of Sunbury visited with Mr. and Mrs. George Feese on Tuesday. Mrs. John Hackenberg and Mrs. Chester Slokevich spent Friday afternoon in Lewisburg. Mr. and Mrs. William Reed and family of Mifflinburg, R.D. were Sunday dinner guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Kleckner.
    William Young returned to Penn State on Tuesday after spending the weekend at home. Mr. and Mrs. Mahlon Wagner and family and Mrs. Mabel Chestnut entertained to a New Year’s dinner Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Wagner and son Harold and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Beaver of Lewisburg and Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Grove of town. Miss Estelle Osler a student in Philadelphia and Miss Vesta Osler, a senior at Linden Hall, Lititz, returned to school after spending the holidays with their parents, Dr. and Mrs. John Osler.
    Newton Bingaman of Milton spent several days over New Year’s with Mrs. Clyde Stitzer. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Smith and children Shirley, Larry and Spencer of town visited with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Peters and family on New Year’s Eve. Dr. and Mrs. Charles Steese and sons George and John spent the New Year’s holidays with C.M. Miller and family in Newville. Mr. and Mrs. Theron Dersham and family and Mrs. Lena Dersham and daughter Sara Ellen of town, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Shoemaker and family of Lewisburg were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Kleckner on New Year’s Day. Mr. and Mrs. A.G. Graham of Jersey Shore and Mr. and Mrs. John Graham and family of S. Williamsport spent New Year’s Day with Mr. and Mrs. Van Graham and family. J.W. Zimmerman of Dice was a dinner guest in the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. Rollin Young and family Mrs. Cloyd Frederick, daughter Barbara and son William, house guest Miss Lois Keener of Plainfield, N.J. spent New Year’s evening and Friday at Bethlehem and Allentown visiting friends and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Miller of State College, formerly of Mifflinburg visited with Mrs. Lester Sechman last Friday evening. They also called on other friends in town. Mrs. Sechman accompanied them to State College and spent several days with the Millers.
    Mr. and Mrs. Randall Boop and son Tommy, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bowersox and son Denny were Thursday evening callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Boob, and family of near Pleasant Grove. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ruhl and daughter Dianne spent New Year’s Day at Hanover with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Grubb and sons. The boys, Charles Jr., Sheldon and Wayne Grubb accompanied the Ruhl’s to Hanover after spending several days with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Landis Yerger, in town.
    Mrs. Kathryn Moyer and daughter Mildred entertained Mr. and Mrs. Laird Shirk and family on New Year’s Day. Mr. and Mrs. John Snook and daughter Carol of Williamsport were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Cloyd Frederick and family on Saturday evening. Miss Betty Chambers, student at West Chester State Teachers College, and John Chambers student at Princeton Theological Seminary, Princeton, were home for the holidays.
    Monday evening, Charles Jr. Sheldon and Wayne Grubb were supper guests of their aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Sauers and family at Mifflinburg, R.D. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Shirk spent Saturday with Mrs. Bertha Krick and family at Reed’s Gap. Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Wetzel and daughter Susan, and Tommy and Larry McQueen were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Roush and daughter, June on Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. W. Z. Sleighter spent Christmas holidays with the latter’s brother, Mr. and Mrs. George W. Thomas, at Glen Cove, L.I., N.Y. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Shirk visited Mr. and Mrs. Dean Iddings and children at Mifflinburg R.D. on Monday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Rockwell and sons, Michael and Herbert of Upper Darby spent Christmas with Mr. and Mr. George Stover. Mr. and Mrs. H.M. Bailey of Hummels Wharf, spent Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs. George Klushin and children.
    Frank Weaver of Pontiac, Mich. spent Christmas with his mother, Mrs. Marian Weaver and Mr. and Mrs. Marlin Troup and daughter, Donna. Mrs. Katie Ritter, returned to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Landis Yerger after a week’s visit at Kreamer. Airwoman Third Class Barbara Barnett spent the Christmas and New Year’s with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Bettylon and family She is studying Radio School at Biloxi, Miss.
