Mrs. H.H. Leitzell is visiting relatives in Williamsport. Mr. Clem Keiser spent the past week with friends in Harrisburg. Dr. J.R. Gast and wife have gone to Los Angeles, Cal. for the winter. Mr. David Strickler of Vicksburg made us a pleasing call Saturday last. Mr. L.D. Kurtz was to Harrisburg a few days latter part of last week. Miss Mae Oberdorf of Harrisburg is the guest her parents in this place.
Mr. George Motz of Middleburg was recently the guest of John Bibighaus. Mr. H.B. Young attended a shooting match at New Berlin on Monday last. Misses Florence and Helen Rutherford of Laurelton spent a few days this week with friends in town. Miss Carrie Mench who is teaching music at Bridgeton, N.J. is visiting her parents near this place. Misses Bertha and Gertrude Yarger of the west recently visited friends and relatives in this place.
Mr. George Anspach and daughter of Altoona spent a few days this week with his parents in this place. Mrs. Wm. Gould and daughter spent a few days last week very pleasantly with relatives in Shamokin. Mr. Albert Hassenplug and sister, Emma of Philadelphia spent a few days with their parents in this place.
Mrs. Elmer E. Schoch and children of Lewisburg were the guests of Mr. Gilbert Schoch and family on Tuesday. Mr. Jacob LeFever who is working at his trade, barbering, in Raritan, N.J. is visiting his parents west of town. Mrs. T.C. Hare and two children of Altoona are the pleasing guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L.D. Kurtz and family. Miss Margaret, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Duncan of Lewisburg, spent Sunday last with Hon. H.P. Glover’s family.
Comrade Jno. V. Rule was in Harrisburg a day or two beginning of the week and from there went to Lock Haven to visit his son, William and family. Mr. and Mrs. James Miller of Buffalo Roads and Mr. and Mrs. Main Miller of Mazeppa were the pleasing guests of Mr. D.A. Hassinger and family a few days this week.
Mr. Scott S. Walter of near New Berlin was a pleasing business caller at this office Saturday last and his straight talk indicated a degree of stalwart Republicanism most commendable. We are very sorry that our townsman and all around lively merchant, Harry Gast, is confined to his home with rheumatism. The wish is most sincere that the rubbing down he is receiving will bring him out O.K. in a short time.
Dr. Harry Derr of Mifflintown, who had been to Harrisburg witnessing the stalwart Republican victory over insurgents and the fusionist outfit made his old friends in this place a brief visit this week, and one and all were glad to greet him.
A very happy family reunion was held at the home of father Aaron Hassinger’s near Hartleton, on New Year’s which was attended by their sons, Daniel A. and Perry and families of this place. In all there were 23 relatives, together with a few friends swelling the number to 28. It was truly a joyous occasion to all participants.
Hon. James R. Ritter and editor Foote were down to Harrisburg a few days this week probably to witness the election of Snyder and Marshall speakers of the senate and house respectively. And by and by they, as well as many others can go down to Harrisburg town and note that grander victory— the re-election of Col. Matthew Stanley Quay as U.S. Senator.
Mr. Jno. Franklin Felty of Limestown Twp. was a pleasing business visitor at this office on Saturday last. A few days ago, per recommendation of Congressman Mahon, he was appointed postmaster at Dice, this county, vice Franklin Dersham who resigned the position and removed to Snyder County. Mr. Felty’s appointment meets with general commendation and approval. He is an old school teacher, well informed, courteous, affable and obliging and will make an excellent postmaster. Our congratulations and best wishes to him.
Miss Lulu Baker visited relatives in Winfield this week. Mr. C.G. Dreisbach was to Lewisburg on business this week. Miss Mazie Haupt was calling on friends in Milton on Monday. Mr. E.J. Gutelius was to Lewisburg on business on Thursday. Mr. John Wittes was calling on friends in Bloomsburg this week. Miss Sue Keiser spent the past week with friends in in Yeagertown.
Miss Sallie Grimm visited her mother in Middleburg this week. Miss Nellie Wilson is spending this week with friends in Sunbury. Miss Bessie Hayes was calling on relatives in Lewisburg on Thursday. Robert Glover spent a few days this week with relatives in Lewisburg. Miss Nellie Badger was calling on friends in Lewisburg fore part of the week.
Mr. Charles Reed who has been working in Allentown, is at present visiting his parents in this place. Mr. M.E. Dieffenderfer who is working in Milton, spent a few days with his wife in this place this week. After a pleasant visit with relatives in Williamsport, Mr. Charles Zellers and family have returned home. Mr. Henry Heimbach of York spent a few days this week with relatives and friends in this his former home.
Miss Anna Lincoln of near Laurelton spent a few days this week with her brother, John and family in this place. Mr. Charles Johnston of Lansford is the pleasing guest of his parents in this place. Charles is looking exceeding well and his many friends are glad to see him. Mrs. Edwin Halfpenny and daughter Kate of Lewisburg and Mrs. Dr. Conser and child of Sunbury were the guests of the for former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Zeller in this place this week.
