The fifteen gentlemen of our town who have recently built a complete and commodious Clubhouse at “Sand Bridge” in the mountains north of Mifflinburg, met at the resort on July 4th accompained by their wives and friends to celebrate Opening Day. To attempt a description of all the good things prepared for the occasion would be useless. Dinner and supper were served before the events of the day closed. The house stands on a prominent point near the “Bridge” and contains five large bedrooms on the second floor, while on the first floor are a very large dining room, a living room containing a large fireplace and hearth, and a complete kitchen is in the rear of the dining room. The purest of mountain water is carried right to the kitchen door in pipes on the lands of the Corporation. A porch nine feet wide surrounds three sides of the house. The outlook from this porch is magnificent. Rapid Run flows through the grounds of the “Club” and is near by the house. The ever restless and rapid stream furnishes music continually. A large stable is built on the premises for the use of the Club and their friends. When completely furnished the house will contain everything needed for comfort and convenience. Application is made for Charter to the Courts of the County, and Directors and other officers are elected. During the day the house was christened by Miss Margaret Reish, daughter of the President of the Club, as follows: “With this pure mountain water, I christen thee, The Sand Bridge Club.” The large bottle containing the water was broken in a thousand pieces and the water dashed upon many of the onlookers. The day was perfect and was one long to be remembered by those present. The guests of the Club for the day were the Hon. James R.
