We are sorry to say Mr. Michael Noll is on the sick list. Mr. Jasper Hall spent Monday last with Lewisburg friends. Miss Bertha Kleckner was a Vicksburg visitor foer part of the week. Mr. H.W. Orwig transacted business eastward fore part of the week. Mr. Harry Reedy was in Lewisburg on business Thursday last week. Mr. John H. Wagner was to Watsontown on business Thursday last. Mr. Amos Grove of near town was in Williamsport a visitor last Friday.
Mrs. S.O. McGinness visited relatives in Lock Haven fore part of this week. Mrs. Norman Hursh visited relatives in Lewisburg latter part of last week. Rev. Charles Aikens of Selinsgrove spent last Monday with Mifflinburg friends. Mrs. Susanna Eberhart recently visited relatives and friends in Lewisburg.
Mr. William M. Crist spent Saturday and Sunday last with friends in Northumberland. David L. Glover, Esq. was a business visitor in Lewisburg Thursday of last week. Mr. Charles F. Kreischer was the guest of Lewisburg relatives and friends last Saturday.
Miss Catherine Gast of near town spent last Saturday and Sunday with friends in Dewart. Sheriff Shaffer of Lewisburg was an official visitor in town one day later part of last week. Messrs. William and Newton Chambers went to Williamsport on Thursday of last week. Mr. William Goodman of down country was a social business visitor in town last Saturday. Mrs. Jas. K. Reish and daughter, Mrs. Howard Hopp, were Lewisburg visitors on Monday last. Mr. Lewis Steese of Ohio was last week the pleasing guest of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. W. Steese. Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Catherman and children spent last Saturday and Sunday with relatives up country.
Miss Lizzie Miller of up town went to Lewisburg on Thursday evening of last week to visit relatives. Mrs. Frank Rohland and daughter of Jersey Shore were guests of relatives in town fore part of the week. Mrs. Harry Gould of Vicksburg was the guest of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jas. K. Reish on Monday last. Mrs. Clyde Orwig and winsome little daughter are visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Rutherford in Laurelton.
Mrs. P. Frank Rangler of near Milton spent a few days recently with Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Slear and other Mifflinburg relatives. Mr. J.F. Moser of Route No. 4 from Mifflnburg was a welcome business visitor at this office one day latter part of last week. Dr. Henry Mauck of Vicksburg was shaking hands with friends in town one day latter part of last week, warm clasps they were, toc Mrs. R.H. Moses and bright little son, Linwood, of Bluefield, W. Va. are the pleasing guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. A. Gutelius. Mr. J.W. Crouse of Vicksburg, brother of Mr. Emanuel Crouse of this place, was a pleasing caller at this office one day latter part of last week.
Mr. George Harter, student at the Penna. R.R. Station, spent last Saturday and Sunday with lady friends in Tusseyville. He reports a fine time. Mr. Francis Ewing who holds a fine position in Pittsburgh, spent last Sunday pleasantly with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William
A. Ewing. He was looking fine and his Mifflinburg friends were glad to see him. Dr. J.A. Gramley spent last Saturday and Sunday with his wife at Lock Haven Hospital, who recently underwent an operation. It will be gratifying news to her many friends to learn that she is improving nicely.
Dr. D.W. Ilgen, one of Mifflinburg’s leading stock dealers and butchers, who conducts one of the best retail markets in this section of the state, with very competent help in his employ, was a business visitor in Milton last Saturday. Dr. Philip Bikle, the hustling and efficient editor of the Daily Times, Gettysburg, who was the guest of his mother, Mrs. P.M. Bikle, and his grandmother, Mrs. H.G. Wolf, fore part of the week, paid our sanctum a pleasant call. Come soon again, Philip, your ever pleasing manner and intelligent discourse is always a pleasure to the “Telegraph” staff.
Mr. M.E. Klopfenstein, traveling salesman for the Royal Typewriter Co. of Philadelphia, was a business visitor in this place Thurslay and Friday, last, and did some business— sold a machine or two. Couldn’t avoid doing otherwise, as he is a very pleasing and courteous gentleman and represents a fine typewriter. Mrs. Thomas W. Crotzer of Pittsburgh spent a few days recently with relatives in this his native home, where many warm friends gave him the glad hand. He was looking fine— the very picture of prosperity. On his return home on Tuesday he took with him his sister, Mrs. Hannah Zellers, who will visit him and family for an indefinite period.
Mrs. Charles Lytle is visiting relatives in Milton and Lewisburg. Miss Bertha Hassenplug was this week the guest of Vicksburg friends. Mr. Warren H. Ringler was in Milton calling on friends Saturday last. Mr. Seymore Morningstar spent Sunday with friends in Lewisburg. Mr. John W. Gutelius was a business visitor to Harrisburg on Tuesday last. Mr. and Mrs. Benj. Tittle spent Sunday last with relatives in Penns Creek. Mr. and Mrs. Kreider Kurtz this week visited her parents in New Bloomfield. Mr. D.R. Pursley of Laurelton transacted business in Mifflinburg Wednesday. Mr. Sameul Charles of Laurelton was a business visitor in this place Friday last. Mrs. Oscar C. Ruhl of near Millmont was a pleasing caller at our office Saturday last.
Mr. and Mrs. Jas. F. Culp spent last Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. James Schoch in New Berlin. Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Slear spent Thursday of last week with his mother and family in Lochiel. Mrs. Emanuel Hoffman spent last Saturday and Sunday pleasantly with relatives in Bloomsburg. Mrs. Louise Wilson and Mrs. J. Foster Barber were recently the pleasing guests of relatives in Shamokin. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. S. Zellers and son Robert were the guests of relatives in New Berlin on Sunday last.
Miss Rae Cook of Lewisburg spent Saturday and Sunday last with her sister, Mrs. Warley Schoch. Mr. G.R. Stover, Jr. of Northumberland spent Monday last with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George R. Stover. Mr. Irwin Royer of Hiawatha, Kansas, is the pleasing guest of relatives and friends in Mifflinburg and vicinity. Mr. G.C. Rote, an esteemed citizen residing up country, was a pleasing business visitor in Mifflinburg on Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Hassinger of near Millmont were visiting relatives and doing some shopping in town Saturday last.
We very much regret to learn that Mr. Robert H. Snodgrass is very ill. His many friends wish him speedy recovery. Mrs. James H. Snodgrass spent a few days last week with her sister, and husband, Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Anspach, in Milton. Mr. Harold Johnson, teacher of the Cowan Grammer school, was a very welcome caller at this office on last Friday evening. Mrs. S.G. Grove recently spent several days with Mr. J.E. Bingaman’s on RD 3, while Mrs. B. visited relatives in Hartley Twp. Dr. Hesser C. Clapham and brother, Dr. Grant B. Clapham, of Philadelphia, were here this week to attend the funeral of their mother.
Mr. Clarence Spigelmyer, one of our enterprising young farmers, residing near Mifflinburg, was to Lewisburg on business Tuesday last. Miss Lillie Staub of New York City was this week the guest of relatives and friends in this her former home, who were glad to see her. Henry W. Bikle, Esq., of Philadelphia spent Saturday night and Sunday last with his mother and grandmother, Mrs. H.G. Wolfe in this place.
We are sorry to state that Mr. Jacob Royer has been confined to his home on account of illness. His many friends trust of his recovery. Norman Sprow has gone to Hawks Run, near Philipsburg, to work on a lumber job. Frank Hunter and his son Charles of Laurelton are there, too. Mr. and Mrs. J.G. Anspach of Altoona were the pleasing guests of his sisters, Gertrude and Virginia Anspach on Green St., Sunday last. Mr. and Mrs. C. Burke Miller of Glen Iron were pleasantly entertained last Saturday and Sunday at the hospitable home of Mr. and Mrs. A. Hughes Hopp on Chestnut St.
Mrs. T. Frank Ranck of Pittsburgh was this week a pleasing guest of her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs . H.H. Leitzell and her mother, Mrs. Ayers, at their pleasant home on Chestnut St. Mrs. Frank Bradford of Center Hall spent last Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. W.K. Forster in Mifflinburg. She had been visiting her brother, station agent Wm. Odenkirk and family at Glen Iron. Those from this place visiting meetings of Scottish Rite Masons at Williamsport this week were: Dr. J.R. Gast, Jas. H. Snodgrass, Horace P. Glover, Jno. A. Beard, Warren Orwig, Wm. S. Shook, Jno. W. Lincoln H.A. Gast, H.W. Orwig and A.R. Gilbert.
The various Masonic bodies of the Williamsport Consistory convened Wednesday, Thursday and Friday on last week. The principal social event of the week was the reception and dance on Wednesday evening. The following from Mifflinburg were among those who attended this: Mr. and Mrs. H.A. Gast and Mrs. A.R. Gilbert, Misses Elizabeth Gast and Helen Ryder, Messrs. Horace Orwig and W.S. Shook.
From last week’s Lewisburg Journal. and Mrs. Charles Royer, of Seattle, Washington, who are east on a visit among old friends in Lewisburg and Mifflinburg spent a week in New York, and were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. N.N. Bingaman on Tuesday. And in a few days the Doc., his wife and his sister, Miss Daisy Royer, of this place, will leave for Seattle, and of course accompanied with the very best wishes of their many friends.
Wednesday night and Thursday of last week, Dr. Henry M. Kieffer of Atlantic city, N.J., was entertained by his former playmate and friend, Mr. Oliver Badger and wife. After the delivery of his lecture in this place he went to Milton, where, in the Baptist Church on Friday night, he delivered the same lecture before a large audience. Then on Saturday he returned to Mifflinburg where he was the guest of his friends, Dr. C.H. Gutelius and wife, over Sunday.
