Betty L. Stahl
    Betty L. Stahl, 77, of 2195 Weikert Road, Millmont since 1968, entered into rest at 8:15 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2012, at Rolling Hills Manor, Millmont.
    Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Roupp Funeral Home Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Road, Mifflinburg.

Elizabeth Emily “Betty” Glover
    Elizabeth Emily “Betty” Glover, 91, of 136 Donahue Manor Road, Bedford, a former resident of 241 Chestnut St., Mifflinburg, entered into rest on Sunday, April 15, 2012, in Donahoe Manor, Bedford, where she was a guest since September 2005. Betty had lived at 241 Chestnut St., Mifflinburg, since June 1947 until returning to Bedford County in 2005.
    She was born April 12, 1921 in Cessna, Bedford County, a daughter of the late George Lester and Mary Elizabeth Hoagland Fetter. She was married in Mifflinburg United Methodist Church on June 15, 1947, to William Waller Glover, who entered into rest on May 13, 2000.
    Betty was a graduate of East Clair High School, Class of 1939, and a graduate of the York Business College, York.
    She was a secretary at Huntingdon Throwing Mills, Mifflinburg, following her graduation from business college and until the time of her marriage in 1947. She served as an assistant librarian at the Herr Memorial Library, Mifflinburg, for many years.
    She was an active member of Mifflinburg United Methodist Church and in earlier life was very active in many church organizations. She served as a Sunday school teacher at the church Sunday school. She was a former member of the Mifflinburg Athenaeum Club.
    Betty is survived by the following siblings and their spouses, Dale R. and Dorothy L. Fetter, of Bedford, Paul W. and Janet M. Fetter, of Bedford, Ira H. Fetter, of Fishertown, Eugene A. and Ruth M. Fetter, of New Paris, Russel C. and Marian J. Fetter, of Martinsburg, Alice M. and Charles L. Miller, of Bedford, Evelyn L. Wilkins, of Manns Choice, and Shirley M. and Ronald W. Ketterman, of Bedford; and numerous nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by a brother, Carl George Fetter, and two sisters, Myrtle May Reisling and Ruth Dorothy Norris.
    There will be no public viewing. Family and friends are invited to attend graveside services for Betty at 1 p.m. Thurs., April 19, in Hartleton Cemetery with the Rev. Ronald A. Warfle, her pastor, officiating.
    In lieu of flowers, memorials in Betty’s honor may be made to Mifflinburg United Methodist Church, 279 Market St., Mifflinburg, PA 17844, or the Herr Memorial Library, 500 Market St., Mifflinburg, PA 17844.
    Funeral arrangements are by the Dominick T. Adamo Funeral Home, 247 Chestnut St., Mifflinburg.

James Wilson Wilt
    James Wilson Wilt, 92, of 514 Main St., Hartleton since 1952, entered into rest at 7:15 p.m., Saturday, April 14, 2012, at Riverwoods, Lewisburg, where he had been a resident for one week.
    He was born April 23, 1919 in Sunbury, a son of the late Irvin A. and Jennie E. (Spicher) Wilt. On Nov. 10, 1941, in Hagerstown, Md., he married the former Marguerite VonNeida, who preceded him in death on Dec. 30, 1986.
    James served in the Army, Company 1, 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Division from Aug. 4, 1943 until his honorable discharge on Feb. 13, 1946. During his service he earned the World War II Victory Medal, Purple Heart Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Philippines Liberation ribbon with bronze star, and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with one bronze service star.
    He was employed as a paint foreman at the Laurelton Center for 35 years, until he retired in 1981. Earlier in life, he was employed at the Watsontown Foundry, Laurelton Foundry, and Pennsylvania House, Lewisburg.
    James was a Lutheran.
    He enjoyed bowling, woodworking, watching the “Price is Right,” and baseball, especially as a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies.
    Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Bob Wagner, of Laurelton; one granddaughter, Dedra and husband Jeff Mowery, of Lewisburg; one great-grandson, Owen; two brothers, Fred Wilt, and Kay Wilt; and two sisters, Anna Baker, and Patricia Fiss.
    He was preceded in death by six brothers, Eugene, Jack, Irvin Jr., Donald, Robert, and William; and four sisters, Dorothea Wilt, Nancy Jo Deal, Betty Wilt, and Geraldine Wilt.
    Family and friends are welcome from 10 a.m. to noon Thurs., April 19, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Road, Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be held at noon with Pastor Ron Wagner, officiating.
    Burial will be in the Hartleton Cemetery, with military honors by the Mifflinburg American Legion Post 410. Another patriotic American veteran is gone.

Gloria H. Hoffman
    Gloria H. Hoffman, 87, went home to be with the Lord at 6:15 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2012, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. She lived at 428 Larch Road, Sunbury where she lived with her daughter, Sarah, who took excellent care of her for many years.
    She was born March 22, 1925, in Asherton, a daughter of the late Aaron M. and Lottie M. (Smith) Leininger. She was married on July 29, 1944, to David “Buss” Hoffman, who preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 1979.
    Gloria worked at Nightcraft, Sunbury Textile Mills, and Spess’ Restaurant in Sunbury. She also did house cleaning for several people. She was a loving mother and homemaker and will especially be remembered for her baked goods and greeting cards that she sent to everyone she knew.
    She attended God’s Missionary Church, Sunbury.
    Gloria is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Carolyn, of Middleburg, Gary and Sharon, of Bloomsburg, Roy and Doris, of Millmont, and Wayne and Phyllis, of Paxinos; two daughters and one son-in-law, Rosena and Craig Church, of Berwick, and Sarah Hoffman, of Sunbury; 17 grandchildren, Crystal, Chris, Donald, April, Todd, Tammy, Thad, Paul, Doug, Heidi, Jennifer, Colleen, Beverly, Aimee, Dennis, Scott and Karen; 26 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by nine brothers, George, Seth, Blaine, Marvin, Floyd, Oscar, Chester, Elmer and Harold, and four sisters, Olive Thomas, Lena Shipman, Hazel Shunk and Merle Leininger.
    Family and friends are invited to the visitation from 6 to 9 p.m. Thurs., April 19, and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at God’s Missionary Church, 820 Susquehanna Ave., Sunbury, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 with the Rev. Jacob Martin and the Rev. Keith Bunch officiating.
    Burial will be in Wayside Mission Church Cemetery, Dornsife.
    Arrangements are by the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury.

Robert E. “Bob” Newbury, Sr.
    Robert E. “Bob” Newbury, Sr., 88 of Water Street passed away at 4:26 p.m., Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at ManorCare, Sunbury.
    He was born Dec. 23, 1923, in Danville, a son of the late Harry and Getha (Keiser) Newbury. On Dec. 25, 1946, he married the former Dorothy I. Swanger who preceded him in death Nov. 24, 1992.
    Bob attended school in the Danville School District and enlisted in the Army on Sept. 20, 1944, serving during World War II until his discharge on Oct. 21, 1945.
    He was a faithful member of the Sunbury Bible Church, Northumberland, and a member of the AARP.
    He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan, a loving father and loved spending time with his family.  He was always there for his family and always willing to lend a hand. He could often be found staying in touch with friends and family by talking with them on the telephone.
    Bob is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert E. Jr. and Andrea L. Newbury and Arthur L. and Cathy M. Newbury, and one daughter and son-in-law, Pamela S. and John F. Gass Jr., all of Northumberland; 11 grandchildren and their spouses, Joel and Sara Newbury, of Lewisburg, Joshua and Tonia Newbury, of Northumberland, Jeremy and Laura Newbury, of Northumberland, Vicki and Jay Pronkoski, of Selinsgrove, Dane and Kelly Stine, of Mifflinburg, Dawn and Stan Blockson, of Selinsgrove, Faith Stine, of Northumberland, Jamie and Alex Hernandez, of Sunbury, Jay Dressler and companion, Deneen Lawless, of Northumberland, Bill and Shannon Dressler, of Northumberland, Monica and Frank Hort Jr., of Northumberland;  25 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and another expected in July; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean and Harold Woodruff, of Numidia, and Doris and Bob Snyder, of Bloomsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by two daughters, Kathy W. Newbury in infancy, and Marlene V. Stine; one brother, Allen Newbury; and two sisters, Dorothy Keefer and Arlene Bird.
    Funeral services were held Mon., April 16, at the Sunbury Bible Church, 135 Spruce Hollow Road, Northumberland. Pastor Ken Paulhamus officiated.
    Burial with military honors were accorded by the American Legion Post 44 in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.

    Arrangements were by the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King St., Northumberland.
