Mahlon Denius
    Mahlon Denius, 87, of 30 S. 18th St., Lewisburg entered into rest at 3:20 p.m. Monday, April 20, 2009, at Rolling Hills Manor, Millmont, where he had been a resident for one month.
    Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Roupp Funeral Home Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Road, Mifflinburg.

Elma Grace Gill
    Elma Grace Gill, 96, formerly of Middleburg, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2009, at RiverWoods, Lewisburg. She resided in Franklin Township, Paxtonville Road, Middleburg for 53 years, and was a resident of RiverWoods Nursing Home since April of 2004.
    She was born April 30, 1912, in Spring Township, Snyder County, a daughter of the late Ammon and Clara Ellen (Aumiller) DeLong. On Feb. 6, 1932, in Hagerstown, Md., she married Harry L. Gill who preceded her in death on March 2, 1996.
    Elma was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Middleburg, and of its Sunday school class.
    Elma was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed crocheting. She was an outstanding cook and prepared many delicious meals for friends and family.
    She is survived by one daughter, Caroline Hoffman of Sunbury; one son and daughter-in-law, Samuel and Martha Gill of Mifflinburg; four grandchildren, Cheryl Yeager, Patricia Troup and Donna Gallo, all of Sunbury, and Debra Feaster of Northumberland; two step-grandchildren, Lisa Rishel of Mifflinburg and Jessica Ely of Bethlehem; eight great-grandchildren, Charles Yeager, Krista Feaster Pennington, Shannon Feaster, Jennifer Snyder Kremer, Robby Snyder, Logan, Kale and Mallory Gallo; three step-great-grandchildren, Bethany, Kasey and Erin Rishel; eight great-great-grandchildren, Dylan and Katie Kremer, Shen and Freya Yeager, Joshua and Jackson Snyder, Caden Gallo and Keegan Feaster; and a special niece, Emily Fetterolf Moyer.
    In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Arthur Delong, and six sisters, Elsie Renninger, Mae Getz, Nettie Pheasant, Rachel Leslie, Eva Gill and Jessie Kauffman; and one son-in-law, Donald Hoffman.
    Funeral services were held Tues., April 21, at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg. The Rev. James W. Grubb officiated.
    Burial will be in the Paxtonville Cemetery.

Bertha S. Hackenberg
    Bertha S. Hackenberg, 85, of 101 E. Walnut St., Mifflinburg passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
    She was born March 15, 1924, in Jackson Township, Snyder County, the first of five daughters born to Artie and Carrie (Hollenbach) Kratzer. On May 20, 1942, she and her husband, Joseph Noll Hackenberg, were married in Pikeville, Ky. He preceded her in death on March 13, 1991 after 48 years of marriage.
    Bertha received her grammar school education at Boyer School in rural Kratzerville.
    She was employed as a mother’s helper throughout her teen years. After her marriage she assisted with chores on the Hackenberg family farm until 1953, when she moved to Vicksburg, where she lived until May 2000. For a short time in the late 1960’s she was employed at JPM Company, Lewisburg.
    Active in Vicksburg Community Center functions, she also served on the Buffalo Township election board and was a former member of Buffalo Valley Grange 520, Pomona 31, and National Grange for many years.
    Bertha faithfully attended the Dreisbach United Church of Christ.
    She thoroughly enjoyed all her family gatherings, as well as gatherings with her friends.
    Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Robert Hoffman of Mifflinburg; one son, Joe A. Hackenberg of Selinsgrove; three grandchildren, Kelly Hankinson and husband Nathan, Stefanie English and husband Bruce, and Robert K. Hoffman; one great-grandson, Matthew English; and four sisters and one brother-in-law, Arla Berger of Lewisburg, Ethel Wenrich of Mifflinburg, Dorothy Staley of Milton, and Marie and F. Ernest Snook of Mifflinburg. She is also survived by her extended family.
    In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a stillborn daughter, who died in 1954.
    Funeral services were held Sat., April 18, at the Dreisbach United Church of Christ, Dreisbach Church Road, Lewisburg. Officiating was the Rev. James H. Gold, Associate Pastor of First Lutheran Church, Mifflinburg.
    Burial followed in Dreisbach Church Cemetery.
    The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Vicksburg Community Hall Association scholarship fund, P.O. Box 226, Vicksburg, PA 17883.
    The family was assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, Lewisburg.

Earlene M. Wagner
    Earlene M. Wagner, 68, of Rolling Hills Manor, Millmont since March 22, 2008, and formerly of 441 N. Orange St., Selinsgrove, entered into rest at 8:45 p.m., Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at Rolling Hills Manor.
    She was born Dec. 31, 1940, in Allentown. She was married to Robert F. Wagner who preceded her in death on Feb. 4, 2006.
    Funeral services will be conducted privately at a later date.
    Burial will be in the Union Cemetery, Selinsgrove.
    Funeral services by Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Road, Mifflinburg.

Sarah Klapper
    Sarah Klapper, 92, of 3201 River Road,  Lewisburg passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at RiverWoods in Lewisburg.
    She was born Nov. 1, 1916, in New York, N.Y., a daughter of the late Henry and Anna (Lees) Smolinsky. She was married for 50 years to Jacob “Jack” Klapper who preceded her in death on March 15, 1991.
    Sarah enjoyed knitting, crocheting and deciphering word find puzzles.
    She is survived by one son, Mark Klapper, one daughter and son-in-law, Cara and Mike Glazer, all of Lewisburg; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Diane Feigelson of Paterson, N.J., and Mildred and Warren Nusser of Hartsdale, N.Y.
    In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by one brother, Joseph, and one sister, Ida.
    A graveside service was held Thursday, April 16, in Wellwood Cemetery, Farmingdale, N.Y. It was officiated by Rabbi Richard Berman, retired from Temple Judea of Manhasset, Long Island, N.Y.
    In keeping with Jewish tradition, the family declines flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to either Evangelical Hospice, 1 Hospital Drive, Lewisburg, PA 17837, or Turkey Run Kennel, 1092 Turkey Run Road, Mifflinburg PA 17844.
    The family was assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, Lewisburg.
