Suzanne Hendricks Meixell
    Suzanne Hendricks Meixell, 67, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010, at her home with her children and grandchildren by her side. She showed her caring family how to deal with illness and death with a special grace and dignity.
    A native of Union County, she was born Jan. 29, 1943, in Lewisburg, a daughter of the late Maredith Slifer “Bud” and Evelyn Ruth (Hendricks) Meixell. In 1962, she married Roger Lauell Libby and they were married for 29 years.
    Sue was a 1960 graduate of Lewisburg High School, a 1984 graduate of Susquehanna University with a degree in psychology, and earned a master’s degree in social work from Marywood College in 1990.
    She was a homemaker and a social worker.
    Sue enjoyed time with her family and good friends, being involved in her grandchildren’s activities, the First Baptist Church, monthly dinners with her high school classmates, jogging, knitting, reading and gardening.
    Sue is survived by her three children, Maredith (Libby) Spangler and husband Mike, Jennifer Libby, and Peter Libby, all of Lewisburg; three grandchildren, Heather Sue Spangler, Ryan Michael Spangler, and Kara Nicole Libby; one brother and sister-in-law, Ted and Diane Meixell, of Lewisburg; one sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Tom Wheeler, of Lewisburg; and many nieces and nephews.
    A private graveside service will be conducted.
    Memorial donations in Suzanne’s memory may be made to Evangelical Hospice, 1 Hospital Drive, Lewisburg, PA 17837, or First Baptist Church, 51 S. Third St., Lewisburg, PA 17837.

Ethel J. Dietrich
    Ethel Jane Dietrich, 89, of 2295 Dietrich Road, Mifflinburg since 1951, entered into rest at 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010, at RiverWoods, Lewisburg, where she had been a resident since May 3, 2000.
    She was born July 23, 1921, in Milton, a daughter of the late William and Jeanette (Ritter) Enterline. On Oct. 17, 1942, she married James C. Dietrich who preceded her in death in 1995.
    Ethel was a 1939 graduate of Milton High School.
    She was employed for many years at K.L. Shively TV and Appliances, Mifflinburg.
    Ethel was a member of the Mifflinburg Booster Club and a volunteer in the craft department at RiverWoods.
    She enjoyed wildlife, especially watching and feeding birds.
    Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, James C. Jr. and Cathy A. Dietrich, of York, and Phillip W. and Nancy J. Dietrich, of Mifflinburg; one sister, Leah Walker, of Milton; four grandchildren, Libby Dietrich, Tucker Dietrich, Sabrina Guffey, and Dawn Haak; and three great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Enterline; and fives sisters, Anna Enterline, Margueritte Enterline, Virginia Enterline, Eleanor Reidle, and Geraldine Newburg.
    Funeral services were held Wed., Aug. 11, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Road, Mifflinburg. The Rev. Richard M. VonNeida officiated.
    Burial was in the Harmony Cemetery, Milton.

Thomas H. Marks
    Thomas H. Marks, 75, of 68 Shelly Circle, Lewisburg was pronounced dead on arrival at the Evangelical Community Hospital, at 2:07 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010.
    He was born May 7, 1935, in White Deer Township, Union County, a son of the late Clark and Beryl (Ranck) Marks. He resided in Lewisburg for the past four years and previously lived in New Columbia for many years.
    Tom was last employed at B-Z Motors, Lewisburg, and was previously employed in the laundry of the Evangelical Hospital for seven years and North Star Steel, Milton, for 30 years.
    He served with the Marine Corps during the Korean War.
    He is survived by his wife, the former Eva Mae Letteer with whom he would have celebrated his 52nd wedding anniversary on Sept. 6, 2010; one son, Jack F. Marks, of Sunbury; one daughter and son-inlaw, Joleene L. and Curtis W. O’Neill, of Mifflinburg; five grandchildren; one sister and brother in- law, Rochelle and Al Foley, of Sicklerville, N.J.; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Maurice and Stella Marks, of Mazeppa, and Van and Kathy Marks, of New Columbia.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Delores Ocker.
    Funeral services were held Tues., Aug. 10, at the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Benton. The Rev. Daniel H. Hicks, pastor of Buffalo Valley Charge of the United Methodist Church, officiated.
    Interment was in New Columbus Cemetery, Luzerne County.

Emma M. Dale
    Emma Mae Campbell Dale, 88, formerly of 121 Market St, Mifflinburg, entered into rest at 8:06 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010 at RiverWoods, Lewisburg, where she had been a guest since June 2008.
    She was born Oct. 22, 1921 in Mifflinburg, a daughter of the late Hall C. and Margaret B. (McDowell) Campbell. On March 18, 1960 at the Mifflinburg United Methodist Church she married Elwood J. “Woody” Dale, who preceded her on May 6, 2008.
    Emma was a 1939 graduate from Mifflinburg High School.
    She was employed by Kootex, the Body Company, and worked forty plus years at the Huntington Throwing Mills in Mifflinburg.
    Emma was a member of the Mifflinburg United Methodist Church for over fifty years.
    In her early years, Emma belonged to a bowling team. She enjoyed cooking and baking, helping the church make Easter eggs, serving meals and visiting the shut-ins. She also enjoyed reading and taking walks.
    She survived by two sister; Constance C. Crook, of New Berlin and Ruth Dennithorn, of Coatesville; also two sisters-in-law; Rhelda Valentine and Mary Wehr, both of Mifflinburg, and many nieces and nephews.
    In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by four brothers; Harry M. Campbell, Ralph C. Campbell, Hall J. Campbell and James E. Campbell; and four sisters, Isabel G. Dorman, Helen M. Solomon, Mildred A. Jarret, Bertha K. Cattell.
    Funeral services were held Sat., Aug. 7, at the Schwartz-Adamo Funeral and Cremation Services, 247 Chestnut St., Mifflinburg. The Rev. Ronald Warfle, officiated.
    Burial was in East Side Cemetery, Mifflinburg.

Julia R. Carnahan Oberlin
    Julia R. Carnahan Oberlin, 99, formerly of Penns Creek, passed away at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010 at RiverWoods, Lewisburg.
    She was born Oct. 26, 1910, in Snyder County, a daughter of the late Isaac and Ellen (Mitchell) Gearhart. She was married to Glenn A. Carnahan, who preceded her in death in 1954. In 1961 she married Marvin M. Oberlin, who preceded her in death in 1997.
    Julia retired from Par-Knit Mills, in Mifflinburg.
    She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, in Penns Creek.
    Julia enjoyed gardening, her church and singing Pennsylvania Dutch songs.
    Surviving are a daughter, Arlene Carnahan Millhouse, of Erie, and a son, Richard E. Carnahan, of Northumberland; six grandchildren, Deana Millhouse Guillard, of West Chester, Ohio, Attorney Scott Millhouse, of Pittsburgh, Denise Buckel, of Pasadena, Md., Patricia Miller, of Northumberland, Cindy Shambach Knoch and Terry Shambach Bucher, both of Sunbury; six great-grandchildren, Ella Guillard, of West Chester, Ohio, John Millhouse, of Chicago, Steve Millhouse, of Pittsburgh, Kenneth Wilkison, of Northumberland, Chase Shambach and Brandon Bucher, both of Sunbury. Also surviving are two sisters, Edna Shawver, of Beavertown and Lera Carnahan, of Middleburg.
    She was preceded in death by four sisters, Esta Bowersox, Erma Moyer, Alma Bowersox and Anna Hackenburg, and two step-daughters, Linda Oberlin Shambach and Helen Oberlin Flanagan.
    Funeral servicse were held Tues., Aug. 10, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Penns Creek. The Rev. Thomas Adams Jr. officiated.
    Burial was in Penns Creek Community Cemetery.
    Arrangements were by the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg.

Harry L. Heimbach
    Harry L. “Hob” Heimbach, 59, of Walbash Road, Mifflinburg passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010, at the Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
    He was born Sept. 5, 1950, in Lewisburg, a son of the late Norman and Mildred (Aikey) Heimbach. He was married for 37 years to the former Sherry Buck, who survives.
Hob had served in the Army from 1969 to 1971.
    He had been employed by Yorktowne in Mifflinburg.
    Hob enjoyed hunting and fishing.
    In addition to his wife, he is survived by four brothers, Merril Heimbach, of Mifflinburg, Marlyn Heimbach, of Lewisburg, David Heimbach, of Mifflinburg, and George Heimbach, of Mifflinburg; four sisters, Twila Lose, of Mifflinburg, Thelma Smith, of Lewisburg, Joyce Gamble, of Northumberland, and Dorothy Smith, of Mifflinburg; and many nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy Heimbach and Richard Heimbach; and three sisters Parce Brooks, Jenny Prowant, and Margaret Tyson.
    Funeral services will be private and will be held at the convenience of the family.
    Memorials in Hob’s memory may be made to the Central Susquehanna Chapter of the American Cancer Society, 57 Reitz Blvd., Suite 102, Lewisburg, PA 17837.
    Arrangements were under the care of the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton.
