Calvin Neil “Scutch” Hackenburg
    Calvin Neil “Scutch” Hackenburg, 79, of 200 E. Market St., Mifflinburg since 2000, formerly of Millmont, entered into rest at 7:10 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, at his home. He was born Oct. 10, 1932, in Lewisburg, a son of the late Peter and Amelia (Boob) Hackenburg. On Aug. 14, 1964, in First Church of the Nazarene, Mifflinburg, he married the former Diane E. Catherman, who survives.
    Scutch was a graduate of Mifflinburg High School.
    He was employed as a supervisor in the heat plant at the Laurelton Center for 33 years.
    Scutch enjoyed traveling with his wife to the New England states.
    In addition to his wife of 47 years, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Debra A. and Chuck Klose, of Mifflinburg; one brother, Charles Hackenburg, of Millmont; three grandchildren, Amber and her husband, Justin Felmey, of Millmont, Andrew Klose and his fiancé, Cassi, of Penns Creek, and Austin Klose, of Mifflinburg; and five great-grandchildren, Jaiden, Jaxson, Addison, Gage and Camdyn.
    He was preceded in death by one sister, Kathryn Laucenbaugh.
    There will be no public viewing. Family and friends are welcome to a time of visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Thurs., Dec. 15, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Road, Mifflinburg, followed by the funeral at 11 with the Rev. Wayne S. Krell, officiating.
    Burial will be in the Hartleton Cemetery.

Ethel Ramona Stover
    Ethel Ramona Stover, 95, of 244 Stover Road, Mifflinburg since 1974, entered into rest at 4 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, at her home.
    She was born July 29, 1916, in Menno, S.D., a daughter of the late William and Aurelia (Schnaidt) Wolfe. On Aug. 12, 1933, she married Nevin T. Stover who preceded her in death on June 28, 1988.
    Ethel assisted her husband on the family dairy farm in Swengel, and earlier in life in Centre County.
    She was a member of the West End Senior Center.
    Ethel enjoyed sewing, quilting, embroidery, flowers, bird watching, canning, baking bread, and collecting glass baskets. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and preparing family dinners.
    Surviving are four grandchildren and their spouses, Delphia and David Lohr, Tina and Ernie Smith, and Mary Ann Shallenberger, all of Mifflinburg, and Marlene and Dr. Rodney Stout, of Gallipolis, Ohio; one brother, Donald Wolfe, of Aaronsburg; one sister, Edna Bartley, of Spring Mills; nine great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and one nephew who she raised, William and his wife, Jean Wolfe, of Mifflinburg.
    She was preceded in death by one son, Theodore Stover on May 7, 1995.
    Funeral services were held Wed., Dec. 14, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Road, Mifflinburg. The Rev. Henry Dorman officiated.
    Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery, Millheim.
    The Stover family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Ethel’s neighbors, Eli and Anna Shirk, for all of their help and support through the years.

Brian K. Ulrich
    Brian K. Ulrich, 44, of 68 E. High St., McClure passed away at 3:34 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
    He was born June 3, 1967, in Lewisburg, a son of Erma F. Mohr Ulrich, of New Berlin, and the late Donald W. Ulrich who preceded him in death on Dec. 17, 2000. On May 7, 1994, he married the former Angela M. Green who survives.
    Brian was a 1985 graduate of Mifflinburg High School and Sun Vo-Tech. He played football for Mifflinburg High School and for the Redskins Midget football team, Mifflinburg, and the Giants Little League team, New Berlin.
    He was employed at D.W. Ulrich and Sons Plumbing until 1997 when he began employment at Wood-Mode, Kreamer.
    He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, McClure, where he was the go-to man for anything that required wood working or crafting. He coached midget football for Mifflinburg and Middleburg and for Little League in McClure.
    Brian enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing and was known in his community as that “Michigan football fan.” The great joy in his life were his children.
    In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by one daughter, Danielle Elizabeth Ulrich, and triplets, Garrett Donald, Matthew Jerome, and Aaron Ulrich, all at home; one sister and brother-in-law, Kimberly S. and Terry D’Addario, of New Berlin; one brother, Jeffrey S. Ulrich and companion, Leslie Walter, of Selinsgrove; his mother and father-in-law, Jerry and Helen Green of Troxelville; sister and brother-in-law, Heather and Shannon Delp, of New Berlin; and three nieces, Taylor and Becca Delp and Megan D’Addario.
    Funeral services were held Tues., Dec. 13, at Trinity Lutheran Church, McClure. The Rev. Lisa B. Schuster officiated.
    Burial was in the McClure Union Cemetery.
    Contributions in Brian’s memory may be made to any office of Swineford National Bank to the fund established for his children’s education.
    The family was assisted by the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove.

Richard V. Rodichok
    Richard V. Rodichok, 73, of Mifflinburg and formerly of Williamstown, passed away Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, at his home.
    He was born Dec. 15, 1937, in Tremont, a son of the late Charles and Catherine Love Rodichok.
    He retired after 38 years of service from the former AMP Inc., Tower City.
    Rich was an Army National Guard veteran.
    He was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Williamstown, and the Williamstown American Legion. He was a former Little League baseball coach and Boy Scout leader.
    He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Eleanor Yentsch Rodichok; two sons, Joseph Rodichok and wife Susan, of Long Island, N,Y., and Richard Rodichok and wife Lori, of Mifflinburg; one brother, Charles Rodichok and wife Joan, of Williamstown; four grandchildren, Cassie, Arianna, Max and Noah Rodichok; and nieces and nephews.
    A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Mon., Dec. 12, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Williamstown. The Rev. C. Anthony Miller was celebrant.
    Burial was in the parish cemetery.

    The Dimon Funeral Home Inc., Williamstown, was in charge of the arrangements.

Nancy Jean Perkins
    Nancy Jean Perkins, 78, of 3291 Shellers Bend Road, State College entered into rest at 8:15 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at Centre Crest Nursing Home, Bellefonte.
    Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
    The family is being served by Schwartz-Adamo Funeral and Cremation Services, Mifflinburg.

Robert G. “Bob” Middlesworth
    Robert G. “Bob” Middlesworth, 72, of Essex Lane, Northumberland passed away at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011, in the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
    He was born Nov. 5, 1939, in Lewisburg, the son of the late Robert G. Middlesworth Sr. and Mildred G. (Troutman) Middlesworth Thomas. On Nov. 25, 1976, he married the former Nancy J. Lehman, who survives.
    He was a 1957 graduate of Mifflinburg High School and received an associate degree in engineering from Pennsylvania State University in 1963. Following graduation from high school, Bob enlisted in the Navy on Oct. 31, 1957, and was honorably discharged on Oct. 24, 1960.
    He had been a surveyor for Buchart-Horn Inc. Engineers, Lewisburg, and later for Jack D. Wagner Surveying, Mifflinburg. Bob later worked as a custodian at the Mifflinburg Area Middle School.
    He was a life member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1396, a social member of Lewisburg American Legion Post 182 and served as a member of the funeral honor guard for Mifflinburg American Legion Post 410.
    Bob was a great bowler, playing on traveling leagues, was a dedicated sports fan following Penn State football and the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies and was a NASCAR fan who followed the career of driver Alan Kulwicki. He loved to travel with his wife and other family members to Myrtle Beach and Hawaii and take cruises to the Caribbean and the Bahamas.
    He is survived by his children and their spouses, Kirk D. and Deana Middlesworth, of Fort Mill, S.C., Koby L. and Donald Miller, of Charlotte, N.C., Debra A. and Frank Martz III, of Danville, and Scott A. Derk, of Milton; five grandchildren, Elizabeth and Grant Middlesworth, Alivia Miller and Kendra and Logan Martz; and his sister and brother-in-law, Patricia L. and Richard C. Stees, of Mifflinburg.
    Memorial services were held Sat., Dec. 10, at the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King St., Northumberland. The Rev. Dale F. Biesecker officiated.
    Interment with military honors accorded by Mifflinburg American Legion Post 410 followed in Orchard Hills Cemetery, Shamokin Dam.
    Contributions in Bob’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Dessie M. Smith
    Dessie M. Smith, 81, of 1494 Middle Road, passed away on Wednesday morning, Dec. 7, 2011, at her home.
    She was born Aug. 22, 1930, in Center Township, Snyder County, a daughter of the late Homer Sr. and Gertie (Keister) Jordan. She was married to Raymond A. Smith, who preceded her in death Oct. 27, 1997.
    Dessie was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Penns Creek.
    She enjoyed flowers, birds, gospel singing and going to church. Her family enjoyed her cooking and baking talents.
    She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Earl E. and Carmen Smith, of Mount Pleasant Mills, and Dale J. and Cindy Smith, of Middleburg; two daughters and one son-in-law, Darlene M. and Marlin Renn, of Middleburg, and Shirley A. Colyer, of Port Royal; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by five brothers, Richard, Charles, Homer, Walter and Mervin Jordan; three sisters in infancy; and a son-in-law, Edward Swartz.
    Funeral services were held Mon., Dec. 12, at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg. Pastor Bob Klingerman officiated.
    Burial was in Hummel’s Church Cemetery, Middleburg.

Forrest Charles Emery
    Forrest Charles Emery, 85, of 1135 Red Bank Road, Mifflinburg since 1951, entered into rest on Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
    He was born Dec. 14, 1925, in Millmont, a son of the late Rollin and Helen (Grove) Emery. On March 25, 1948, in Mifflinburg, he married the former Edna Mae Jolly, who survives.
    Forrest attended Mifflinburg schools and honorably served in the Navy during World War II.
    He was employed by James Julin Construction Co., Wilmington, Del., retiring in 1976. He formerly was employed at Philco, Watsontown, and Albert Chriswell Construction, Lewisburg.
    He was a member of New Berlin American Legion Post 957.
    Forrest enjoyed working in his tool shed, fishing in the creek next to his home, gardening, hunting and spending time with his family.
    Surviving, in addition to his wife of 63 years, are one son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Joan Emery, of Mifflinburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Rick Endy, of Mifflinburg; two grandchildren, Tammy Betsock and her husband, Steve, of Winfield, and James Emery and his companion, Gretchen Powell, of Mifflinburg; two great-granddaughters, Alexis and Courtney Betsock, of Winfield; four brothers and one sister-in-law, Warren Emery, Richard Emery and Robert Emery, all of Mifflinburg, and Neil and Myrtle Lou Emery, of Houston, Texas; and two sisters, Josephine Haggy and Fae Hanselman, both of Mifflinburg.
    He was preceded in death by one sister, Kathryn Weller.
    Funeral services were held Fri., Dec. 9,  at the Roupp Funeral Home Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Road, Mifflinburg. Pastor Roy Longenecker officiated.
    Burial was in Mifflinburg Cemetery with military honors provided by New Berlin American Legion Post 957.
