Lucy C. Roush
    Lucy C. Roush, 89, of 2410 Centennial Road, Mifflinburg entered into rest at 11:40 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg, where she has been a guest for three years.
    She was born May 26, 1918, in Pillow, a daughter of the late William F. and Emma May (Latsha) Hetrick. She was married to Randall F. Roush Sr., who preceded her in death 1988.
    Lucy was a homemaker. She also raised chickens and would sell the eggs.
She enjoyed sewing, making quilts, cooking and helping others.
    She is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Paul and Sandra Roush of Millmont and Randall F. Jr. and Betty Roush of Mifflinburg; three daughters and three sons-in-law, Peggy and James Diehl Sr., Judy E. and Wayne Rishel and Jean L. and Bill Wolfe, all of Mifflinburg; 10 grandchildren, Kevin Roush, Paula Kuhn, Jennifer Sawyer, Kelly Reiff, Doug Wolfe, Shauna Wolfe, Rob Ruhl, James Diehl, Steven Diehl and Darren Roush; two stepgrandchildren, John Rishel and Dawn Wolfe; and 12 great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by two bothers, William and Robert Hetrick; two sisters, Eva Reidinger and Emma Troutman; three siblings in infancy; and a grandson, Braden Wolfe.
    Family and friends will be received by the family from 10 to 11 a.m. Thurs., Jan. 31, at the Schwartz-Adamo Funeral and Cremation Services, 247 Chestnut St., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will follow at 11 with the Rev. Ned L. Kinsely officiating.
    Interment will be in Forest Hill Church Cemetery, West Buffalo Township, Union County.

Wayne A. Miller
    Wayne A. Miller, 50, of West Ridge Road, Middleburg passed away unexpectedly on Sunday morning, Jan. 27, 2008, at his home.
    He was born May 11, 1957, in Sunbury, a son of the late Ralph E. Sr. and Edna R. (Boone) Miller. On Aug. 19, 1978, he married the former Beth A. Kratzer, who survives.
    Mr. Miller was a 1975 graduate of Middleburg High School and SUN Area Vocational-Technical School, New Berlin. He also studied at Lock Haven University.
Earlier in life, he had been employed by Marlin Industries and Ritz-Craft Corp., and for the past 26 years, he owned and operated Middleburg Video Sales. He also served as Snyder County auditor for six years.
    He was a member of Hummel’s United Methodist Church, Middleburg, as well as Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1129, Middleburg; the National Rifle Association; and the National Space Society.
    He had an interest in model airplanes and enjoyed science fiction, woodworking, making furniture and cooking for family and friends. He and his brothers also enjoyed hunting trips throughout the West.
    Mr. Miller was a loving husband and father, and Sunday was a day set aside for the family in the Miller home. He was known as a man of truth who could always be trusted, and the greatest joys of his life were his granddaughters.
    Surviving, in addition to his wife, are one daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Chad Aucker, of Kreamer; two granddaughters, who were the joys of his life, Lauryn and Alyssa; two sisters and brother-in-law, Linda Shambach and Margaret and Barry Rice, all of Middleburg; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, John and Florence, Ralph Jr. and Sandy and Philip Miller, all of Middleburg; his father-in-law, Stanley Kratzer, of Middleburg; nieces and nephews; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Stanley Kratzer Jr. and Angie of North Carolina, Steven and Deb Kratzer of Middleburg, and Earl Long of Middleburg; and a special friend, his Jack Russell terrier, Skip.
    He was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Long, and his mother-in-law, Margaret Kratzer, and brother-in-law, Ernest Shambach.
    Funeral services were held Wed., Jan. 30, in Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Middleburg. The Rev. William D. Jones officiated.
    Burial was in Hummels Church Cemetery, Oak Lane, Middleburg.
    Contributions in Wayne’s memory may be sent to the Lauryn and Alyssa Aucker Trust Fund, c/o Northumberland National Bank, 87 Lori Lane, Selinsgrove, PA 17870. The fund was established for the education of his granddaughters.
    The family was assisted by the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg.

John V. “Jack” Shovlin
    John V. “Jack” Shovlin, 65, of Coal Township, passed away on Sunday night, Jan. 27, 2008, after many months of a courageous battle with cancer.
    Jack was a son of the late Rita M. Picarelli and John V. Shovlin. He was a long-time resident of the Shamokin-Coal Township area.
    He is survived by three children and their spouses, John Shovlin Jr. of Huntingdon, Dante and Kristen Shovlin of Hudson, Ohio, and Rita and Glenn Beirly of Mifflinburg; five grandchildren, Ty, Shane, Dane, Megan and Kylie; one great-granddaughter, Trinity; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Dennis and Susan Shovlin and William Shovlin; his former wife of 32 years, Paula Hasko, and husband, David; and Jack’s best friend and companion, Debbie Gallagher of Scranton. Jack leaves a long list of extended family and friends who were all touched deeply by his love and fun-loving spirit.
    There will be a visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. Thurs., Jan. 31, with a Christian wake service at 7, at the James Kelley Funeral Home, 1001 W. Arch St. at Maple Street, Coal Township. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Hope Church, First and Chestnut streets, Coal Township, by a parish priest.
    Burial will be in St. Edward Cemetery, Coal Township.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to V.N.A. Health System, 21 W. Independence St., Shamokin, PA 17872, or the Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library, 201 E. Independence St., Shamokin, PA 17872.

Sadie Crone
    Sadie Crone, 97, formerly of Dover, died at 5:04 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, at her home in Laurelton.
    She was born Sept. 27, 1910, in Conewago Township, a daughter of the late Frank and Carrie (Knaub) Anderson. She was the wife of the late Lloyd M. Crone whom she married on July 25, 1931. They celebrated 58 years of marriage.
    Sadie and her husband had been the owners of Clover Farm Store. She also had worked at Smittie’s Soft Pretzels, a cigar factory, a sewing factory and a chain works plant.
    Sadie was a former member of Manchester Assembly of God and Dover Assembly of God.
    Sadie had a roadside stand at her Dover home where she enjoyed gardening, especially growing tomatoes and peppers.
    She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Sterling L. and Audrey Crone, of Laurelton and Donald L. and Connie Crone, of Middleburg; five grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Vergie Lentz, of Dover.
She was preceded in death by a son, Glenn Crone; a sister, Dora Sturgess; and four brothers, Calvin, Raymond, Gilbert and Norman Anderson.
    Funeral services were conducted Tues., Jan. 29, at Dover Assembly of God, 4790 Carlisle Rd., Dover. The Rev. Richard Earl, pastor of Mountainside Assembly of God, Coal Township, officiated.
    Burial followed in Rohlers Mountain View Cemetery .
    Emig Funeral Home, 47 N. Queen St., Dover, was in charge of arrangements.

Bernard Eugene Dinger
    Bernard Eugene Dinger, 79, formerly of 100 Walnut St., Mifflinburg, died early Friday morning, Jan. 25, 2008, at the Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village.
    A native of Mayport, he was born Dec. 11, 1928, a son of the late Frank and Arveta (Powell) Dinger. He was married for 49 years to the former Marian Ann Shaffer who preceded him in death on Aug. 23, 2005.
    A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served in the Army, earning a Purple Heart.
    He was a self-employed truck driver and earlier worked for Youngstown Cartage, hauling steel.
    Bernard was a member of the American Legion and the VFW.
    He enjoyed golf, flying small airplanes and watching his grandchildren’s sporting activities. He was an avid wrestling fan and was given the lifetime fan award for supporting the Mifflinburg High School wrestling events for over 25 years.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Kim Ann and T. Scott Huebner, of Trumbull, Conn.; two grandchildren, Grant Frey Huebner and Victoria Ann Huebner; and seven sisters, Doris Miller, Olive Goebel, Helen Johnson, Joan Pfendler, Francis Mauk, Margie Moyer and Dorothy McCullough.
    He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Michael Dinger in 1994, and two brothers, Jay Dinger and Clarence Dinger.
    Friends and relatives will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Fri., Feb. 1, at the John H. Shaw III Funeral Home, Market and Eighth streets, Lewisburg, followed immediately by a memorial service with his pastor, the Rev. Dennis E. Beaver officiating.
    Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
    The family will provide flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Dinger’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701, or SUN Home Health Services Hospice, P.O. Box 232, Northumberland, PA 17857.

John Luther Erb
    John Luther Erb, 70, of 46 Reber Rd., passed away at 11:40 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, at Kramm’s Nursing Home, Milton.
He was born Aug. 18, 1937, in Lewisburg, a son of the late Clark “Robert” and Martha Olive (Walter) Erb. On June 25, 1960, in Millmont, he married the former Nancy V. Aikey, who survives. Together, they shared 47 years of marriage.
    John joined the National Guard in 1955 serving until his honorable discharge in 1967.
    He retired in 1999 from Pennsylvania House Furniture, Lewisburg, with 42 years in the shipping department.
    John enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching softball and bowling, and meeting with the “Old Timers Club” at McDonald’s for coffee each day.
    In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Linda and Glenn Troup, of Lewisburg, Julia and Scott Geiswite, of Mifflinburg, Cindy and Chad Steese, of Mifflinburg, and Susan Reigel, of Lewisburg; one brother and sister-in-law, Harold E. Sr. and Lucy Erb, of Montoursville; one sister and brother-in-law, Janet L. and Adam Fegley, of Mifflinburg; nine grandchildren, Sarah Schutt, Eric Troup, Justina Geiswite, Stacey Geiswite, Brittany Steese, Ben Steese, Jordon Reigel, Abbey Reigel, and Autumn Reigel; and two great-grandchildren, Landin Fausey and Heather Schutt.
    Funeral services were held Tues., Jan. 29, at Schwartz-Adamo Funeral and Cremation Services, 247 Chestnut St., Mifflinburg. Pastor Ned L. Knisely and the Rev. John F. Saultz, officiated.
    Interment with military honors was in Forest Hill Cemetery, Mifflinburg.
    Donations in John’s name may be sent to National Federation of the Blind, 1800 Johnson Street, Baltimore, Md. 21230.
    Arrangements were entrusted to Schwartz-Adamo Funeral and Cremation Services, 247 Chestnut St., Mifflinburg.

Randy A. Guisewite
    Randy A. Guisewite, formerly Randy A. Sampsell Jr., 22, of 2093 Buffalo Creek Road, Mifflinburg died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at his home.
    He was born June 15, 1985, in Lewisburg, the son of Jean Ann Guisewite of New Columbia and Randy A. Sampsell and companion Joy Von Neida of Mifflinburg.
    Randy attended Milton schools and was employed at Integrity Building Systems in Milton.
    He was a football fan and enjoyed video games and Mustang cars. He was kind hearted and was always helping others.
    In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandfather, Herman Guisewite Sr. and wife Sandy of Milton; maternal grandmother, Leona Poust and husband Ray of West Milton; paternal grandmother, Mary Sampsell of Lewisburg; and six aunts, four uncles and several cousins.
    Funeral services were held Mon., Jan. 28, at the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton. The Rev. Roger W. Betterley officiated.
    Memorials in Randy’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Sara C. Feaster
    Sara C. Feaster, 81, who previously lived on North Seventh Street, Lewisburg, for a number of years and on South 18th Street, Lewisburg, for a few years, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg.
    She was born June 16, 1926, in Lewisburg, a daughter of the late Elmer L. and Mary Catherine (Berger) Farley. On Aug. 3, 1945, she married Walter Andrew Feaster. They observed 33 years of marriage before his death on Dec. 8, 1978.
    Sara was a graduate of Lewisburg High School.
    She was employed for many years at Pennsylvania House and retired in 1988 from the former New Quaker Dress Factory, where she was employed as a seamstress.
    Sara was a member of Christ’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewisburg.
    Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Nancy Feaster of Carroll Valley and Wayne and Candy Feaster of Mifflinburg; one sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Maurice Aikey of Lewisburg; one brother-in-law, Kenneth Catherman of Mifflinburg; three grandchildren, Kimberly Seacrest, Holly Bingham and Aaron Feaster; and two great-grandchildren, Cutler and Bryn Bingham.
    She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Catherman.
    Funeral services were conducted Sat., Jan. 26, at Christ’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 S. Third St., Lewisburg. The Rev. Sara V. Hershberger, interim pastor, officiated.
    Burial followed in Lewisburg Cemetery.
    The family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
    The family was assisted by the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, S. Second and St. Louis Streets, Lewisburg.

William Paul “Bill” Shively
    William Paul “Bill” Shively, 83, of 51 Weller Lane, entered into eternal rest at 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, following an extended illness.
    The second of six sons born to the late Jacob G. and Florence R. (Catherman) Shively, Bill entered this world in Millmont on May 30, 1924. On March 5, 1948, he married the former Pauline M. Bowersox, who survives. They were united in marriage in Millmont by Bill’s grandfather, the Rev. Greene Shively.
    Bill was a 1941 graduate of Mifflinburg High School. Following graduation, he took night courses at Sunbury High School to learn the machinist trade. He later spent nearly two years at the Watsontown Ordnance Works.
    On Sept. 25, 1943, he was inducted into the Army, where he served in the Medical Detachment of the 168th “Red Bull” Infantry during campaigns in Italy and Africa. Cpl. Shively was discharged from Fort George Meade, Md., on March 1, 1946.
    He retired from Pennsylvania House Furniture, Lewisburg, in 1987 after 37 years of employment. He had previously worked at ACF in Milton. In 1965, he was elected to the office of tax collector for Lewis Township, Union County. He held that post through the end of 1981.
    Bill was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees. He also was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State Nittany Lions fan. A faithful Republican, he was a daily listener of the Rush Limbaugh radio program for many years.
    Earlier in life, he was an avid bowler at the Mifflinburg Lanes, where he bowled for a number of local teams. He was a CB enthusiast for many years, and those with whom he communicated on a daily basis knew him as “Collector.” During his later years, he was an ardent Internet checker player despite being handicapped by macular degeneration.
    He was a member of Mifflinburg Lodge 370, Free & Accepted Masons, and the Williamsport Consistory.
    In 1990, Bill and Polly moved from their home in Millmont to their cabin in the woods, a few miles southeast of Millmont. They made their cozy little cabin into a permanent home. One of Bill’s pleasures was a trout pond he installed. He enjoyed feeding and watching his fish. Later, as his vision became impaired, a number of palomino fish were placed in the pond, as they were easier for him to see. Bill referred to them as, “My goldfish.” His two best buddies, Chance and Casper, his Bishon Friese dogs, also will miss him.
    Papa was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Terry W. Shively and wife Cheryl of Zion, Trudy M. Shively of Montoursville, and Tony L. Shively and wife Janice, Tracey A. Beaver and her fiance Perry Swinehart and Tammy S. Radel, all of Millmont; four grandchildren, Dion C. Shively of Greensburg, Jeremy B. Beaver of Liverpool, Tiffany N. Radel of Lewisburg and Tyler A. Radel of Millmont; two great-grandchildren, Ian J. Shively and Jayden H. Beaver; and four brothers, David Shively of Mechanicsburg, Donald L. Shively of Millmont, Harold Shively of Geneva, Ohio, and George Shively of Mifflinburg.
    He was preceded in death by one brother, Edgar Shively.
    Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Hartleton Cemetery.
    Donations in Bill’s memory may be made to the Lewis Township Village Green Recreation Association or Evangelical Home Hospice, 1 Hospital Drive, Lewisburg, PA 17837.
