Kenneth W. Brouse
    Kenneth W. Brouse, 82, of Watsontown, passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2010, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was admitted Friday.
    He was born Oct. 26, 1927, in Mazeppa, a son of the late Emery W. and Dora May (Koch) Brouse. He married the former Jane McCormick in 1962, and they celebrated 47 years of marriage.
    Raised in the Cowan area of Union County, he attended Cowan grade school for eight years and graduated from Mifflinburg High School in 1945. He served in Manila, the Philippines, in the Army during World War II and was discharged in 1947.
    Ken worked for Pennsylvania American Water Co., Milton, for 20 years, retiring in 1991. Before that, he had worked at Philco Ford Corp., Watsontown, for 25 years.
    He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Watsontown, where he served on the church council.
    Ken received the Alzheimer’s Caregiver of the Year award in 2008.
    He was a life member of the West Branch Fire Company, serving as chief from 1977 to 1983, and was an ambulance driver and attendant for 25 years. He received the Sim Cronrath Award in 1985 and the Service Award from the Watsontown Borough Council in 1987.
    Ken was a very proud Mifflinburg Wildcats fan and enjoyed following the school’s sports, especially basketball and softball. He played baseball in the Lower West Branch League for Mifflinburg in the late 1940s and early 1950s. He also was an avid Penn State football fan and Lady Lions basketball fan. He enjoyed trout fishing and flower gardening, especially impatiens. He collected Phillies yearbooks and Phillies baseball cards and acquired a large collection of used U.S. Postal Service stamps.
    Kenneth is survived by his wife, Jane Brouse, and daughter, Judith Lee Herald, both of Watsontown; his grandchildren, Jennifer Herald, of Northumberland, Rebecca Schwartz and her husband, Geoffrey, of Sykesville, Md., and Melissa Rodgers and her husband, Robert Christopher, of Dover Plains, N.Y.; and three great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Connor Rodgers and McKenna Jane Schwartz.
    He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Robert A. Herald, who died in January 2000.
    The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 400 Main St., Watsontown, with the Rev. James H. Fladland officiating.
    Burial with firemen’s and full military honors will follow in Mazeppa Cemetery.
    In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in his memory be made to the Warrior Run Area Fire Department, P.O. Box 8, Watsontown, PA 17777, or First Evangelical Lutheran Church.
    The family was assisted by the Brooks Funeral Home, 124 Main St., Watsontown.

Rev. Paul L. Reaser
    The Rev. Paul L. Reaser, 102, of 215 Fryling Road, North-umberland went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 27, 2010, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, L. Joy and Ron Mertz, where he had lived for 11 years.
    He was born Feb. 6, 1908, in Gettysburg, a son of the late Clayton and Anna (Klepper) Reaser. In 1937, he married the former Jean Gardner, of Gardners, who was also a musician. They were married for 61 years before she passed away in 1998.
    He graduated from Gettysburg College and the Lutheran Theological Seminary, Gettysburg.
    Pastor Reaser served as pastor at Lutheran churches in Milton, Kulpmont, Altoona, Washington, D.C., York, Gettysburg, Mifflinburg and Harrisburg from 1933 to 1977. In 1957, his alma mater, Gettysburg College, conferred on him the honorary degree of doctor of divinity. He also served as interim chaplain at Susquehanna University and was supply preaching until he was 99.
    While attending Gettysburg High School, he played in a band called the Novelty Serenaders. While in his 20s, he played and traveled with the Happy Hines and His Orchestra. He continued his interest in music throughout his life and led the singing at Life Long Learning at Susquehanna University until he turned 100.
    The Rev. Paul Reaser was an active member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Shamokin Dam, where he regularly sang in the choir. He preached there to celebrate his 100th birthday. He took every opportunity to witness to his faith through acts of kindness and support for the church, God’s people and various outreach ministries. Pastor Reaser was known for his ready smile, good sense of humor, his kindness and friendliness, and moreover for his love for God, the church, his family and friends.
    He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Clayton and Sue Reaser, of Westport, N.Y., Joel and Susan Reaser, of Gainesville, Va., and Philip and Donna Reaser, of Fort Wayne, Ind.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carola and the Rev. Robert Rohrbaugh, of Pine Grove Mills, and L. Joy and Ron Mertz, of Northumberland; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his two brothers and four sisters.
    He will be buried beside his wife, Jean, in Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg.
    A memorial service to celebrate his life is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, in St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Shamokin Dam.
    Memorial contributions in Pastor Reaser’s memory may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, Gideon’s International or Gettysburg College to be designated as a Paul L. Reaser Memorial Gift.
    Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Schwartz-Adamo Funeral and Cremation Services, 247 Chestnut St., Mifflinburg.

Roy E. Fisher
    Roy E. “Jake” Fisher, 91, of 9201 West Branch Highway, Lewisburg passed away on Saturday afternoon, June 26, 2010, at the home of his son.
    A native of Union County, he was born March 17, 1919, in Lewisburg, a son of the late Howard and Hazel (Fetzer) Fisher. He was married for 48 years to the former Betty L. Border, who preceded him in death on Dec. 22, 1996.
    Jake was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy in the Pacific and around the world. He was a shellback and had crossed over the equator.
    Jake was employed by American Home Foods, Milton, from Oct. 22, 1958, to March 30, 1984. He also had farmed, worked at ACF Industries, for Woody Hoffman Construction and at the railroad yards in Northumberland.
Jake was a member of Montandon Baptist Church and a life member of the Montandon Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Milton Eagles.
    He enjoyed long rides in the car, being around children, John Deere tractors, trains, animals and polka music. He loved Penn State football, WWE wrestling, the Phillies and the Eagles.
    He is survived by one son, Matt, and his fiancee, Sue Moser, of Lewisburg; two sisters-in-law, Barb Rost, of Cogan Station, and Ruth Fisher, of Millmont; and numerous nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by one daughter, Melody Lee Fisher who was killed in an automobile accident in 1968, three brothers, George, Orrin and Kramer, and two sisters, Alma Baker and Emma Koser.
    Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. at the John H. Shaw III Funeral Home, Market and Eighth streets, Lewisburg, with his pastor, the Rev. Tom Marker, officiating.
    Burial with military services accorded by Lewisburg area veterans will follow in Lewisburg Cemetery.
    The family will provide flowers and asks that donations in Jake’s memory be made to Montandon Baptist Church, 257 Main St., P.O. Box 100, Montandon, PA 17850.

Robert W. Pearce
    Robert W. Pearce, 81, of 90 Sunset Dr., Middleburg passed away at 7:10 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 2010, in the emergency room at Geisinger Medical Center.
    He was born on June 12, 1929, at Miller Run, a son of the late Clarence and Katherine (Malkin) Pearce. On Dec. 20, 1998, he married Lorraine C. (Hornberger) Zechman, who survives.
Robert had been employed as a truck driver for several companies.
    He was a life member of American Legion Post 44, Northumberland, and also a member of VFW Post 6631, Selinsgrove, the Mifflinburg Moose Lodge and the Sunbury Eagles.
    He was an avid reader and enjoyed hunting and playing pool.
    The love of Robert’s life was his wife and his great joy were his children and grandchildren.
    He is survived by two sons, David R. Pearce and his wife Stacey of Coatesville and Mark R. Pearce and his companion Gail Phillips of McClure; two daughters and one son-in-law, Judy L. and Richard Sweigart of Gap, and Lori A. Pearce of Coatesville; five step-children, Allen R. Zechman and his companion Kathy Poole of Selinsgrove, Todd E. Zechman and his wife Tiffany of Sunbury, Lisa M. and Gary Plummer of Beavertown, Murray A. Zechman of Selinsgrove, and Cathy A. Rovenolt and her husband Ronald Jr. of Selinsgrove; eight grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren. And he had five siblings.
    The family receiveed visitors Tuesday  morning, June 29, at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. Pastor Harley Yoder officiated.
    Burial with military honors followed in Glendale Cemetery, Middleburg.
    Contributions in Robert’s memory may be made to the American Lung Association of Central PA, 264 Market St., Sunbury, PA 17801.

Jill Michelle Solomon
    Jill Michelle Solomon, 45, of 52 Camp Laurel Road, Mifflinburg entered into rest at 3:55 p.m. Monday, June 21, 2010, at Rolling Hills Manor, where she was a resident since April.
    She was born Feb. 22, 1965, in Lewisburg, a daughter of Donald G.. “Tub” and Deana (Pontius) Reber, of Mifflinburg. On Nov. 30, 1995, in Mifflinburg, she married Donald E. Solomon, who survives.
    Jill was a 1983 graduate of Mifflinburg Area High School.
    She was a self-employed escort vehicle driver. Earlier in life, she was employed at Paper Magic, New Berlin, and as a cook at Mike and Dot’s, American Legion Post 410 and the Scarlet D, all in Mifflinburg.
    Jill enjoyed the outdoors and camping and spending time with her family, friends and her dogs, Molly and Maggie.
    Also surviving are one son, Jonathon Keister, of Mifflinburg; one daughter, Desiree M. Keister, of Mifflinburg; one stepson, Kyle Solomon, of Muncy; one stepdaughter, Andrea Solomon, of Philadelphia; one brother, Duane P. Reber, of Mifflinburg; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Julie M. and Donald Walls, of Mifflinburg, and Leslie A. Reber, of Mifflinburg; one grandmother, Geraldine E. Libby, of Lewisburg; and one granddaughter, Aliyah M. Ikbarieh.
    Family and friends were welcome to celebrate Jill’s life last Friday at the home of Donald “Tub” and Deana Reber, 490 Hemlock Road, Mifflinburg.
    Burial will be in Mifflinburg Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
    Memorial contributions may be made in Jill’s memory to the American Cancer Society of Central Pennsylvania, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
    Arrangements were by the Roupp Funeral Home, 8594 Old Turnpike Road, Mifflinburg.
