Paul Wilson Boop
Paul Wilson Boop, 90, of 108 Main St., Hartleton went to be with the Lord at 6:15 p.m. Sunday, May 16, 2010, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born Jan. 28, 1920, in Mifflinburg, a son of the late Bruce Montgomery and Hattie Margaret (Walls) Boop. On Dec. 23, 1943, in Mifflinburg, he was united in marriage by the Rev. Mervin Mensch to the former June Rebecca Hackenburg.
On Dec. 19, 1942, Paul enlisted in the Army. Having served in the 474th Anti Aircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion as a marksman, he was honorably discharged on Dec. 2, 1943.
Paul was employed by Yorktown from 1955 until his retirement in 1981. Previously, he was a truck driver and also worked for Chef Boyardee, having had the privilege of meeting the owner himself.
He was a lifetime member of the Buffalo Valley Church of the Brethren, Mifflinburg, a member of Benfer-Miller Post 957, American Legion, New Berlin, the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, and the Disabled American Veterans.
Paul loved camping and traveling with his wife. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed attending to his dogs. He loved being with his daughter, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife of 66 years, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Diane L. and Harry L. Burkland, of Mifflinburg; two granddaughters and their husbands, Nicole R. and John D. Wahl, of Chambersburg, and Shanon L. and Jeromy R. Stamm, of Mifflinburg; two great-grandchildren, Shannon E. Wahl and Morgan R. Wahl, both of Chambersburg; one sister and brother-in-law, Hilda and Richard Zechman, of Mifflinburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Donald E. Boop who died in infancy; one brother, Willard Boop; and two sisters, Thelma Brown and H. Grace Boop.
Visitors will be received by the family from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, May 21, at Schwartz-Adamo Funeral and Cremation Services, 247 Chestnut St., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 with the Rev. Randall C. Fiske, officiating.
Interment will be in the Buffalo Valley Church of the Brethren Cemetery, with military honors accorded by the Thomas H. Clapham Post 410, American Legion, Mifflinburg.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Paul's memory may be sent to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250.
Eugene Edgar “Bing” Bingaman
Eugene Edgar “Bing” Bingaman, 84, of 9 Mifflin Court since 2006, and formerly of 106 E. Green St., entered into rest early Monday morning, May 17, 2010, at his home.
He was born March 29, 1926, in Port Ann, a son of the late Dallas and Dorothy (Bowersox) Bingaman. On May 20, 1944, in McClure, he married the former Hazel May Kline, who survives.
Bing served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II from May 15, 1944 until his honorable discharge Dec. 3, 1945. He was awarded with a Purple Heart.
He was the founding owner of Bing’s Auto Body, Mifflinburg, established in 1964. Bing retired from ACF Industries, Milton, in 1987.
Bing enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Phillies, fishing, and spending time with his family. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and was a founding member of the Shade Mountain Hunting Club. Earlier in life, he also participated in drag races.
In addition to his wife of nearly 66 years, he is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Carol and Donald Bottiger, of Mifflinburg, Linda and Gary Chambers, of New Berlin, Annette Bilger, of Millmont, and Connie and Wayne Biggans, of Eyers Grove; one brother, Burnell Bingaman of Albion, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Stanley Bingaman; and two sisters, Jeanette Bingaman and Arlene Felmey.
Funeral services were held Wed., May 19, at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Plum and High Streets, New Berlin. The Rev. Dr. Roger K. Peters officiated.
Burial was in the Mifflinburg Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Mifflinburg American Legion, Post 410.

Barbara J. Whipple
Barbara J. Whipple, 71, a resident of Kramm Health Care Center, Milton, passed away on Monday, May 17, 2010, in the emergency room of Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
She was born Sept. 14, 1938 in Sunbury, a daughter of late Arthur and Rachel (Bingaman) Poff. Her husband, Lewis Whipple preceded her in death on Nov. 24, 2003.
Retiring in 2006, Barbara held many positions of employment throughout her life, including the Milton Shoe Factory, Milton.
An avid crafter, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed an occasional fishing outing.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Simon III and Jan Dershem, of Lewisburg and Dennis and Brenda Dershem, of Millmont; three daughters and one son-in-law, Rachel Dershem, of Mifflinburg, Ethel and John Hollenbach, of Watsontown, and Pauline Dershem, of New Columbia; one brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Linda Poff, of Milton; two sisters, Kathleen Taylor, of Blaine and Shirley Poff, of Mifflinburg; 19 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Michael Dershem, in 1994, one sister, Joyce Derr, on Jan. 3, 1999, and one grandson, James Hinson, in 2005.
Friends will be received from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday, May 20, at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, St. Louis and South Second streets, Lewisburg, where the funeral will follow at 6, with the Rev. John E. Lee of West Milton United Methodist Church, officiating.

Robert L. Poff
Robert L. Poff, 53, of Raymond Street, Milton passed away on Friday, May 14, 2010, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born July 25, 1956, in Sunbury, a son of the late Robert Lee and Joyce (Poff) Derr. He was married for 20 years to the former Debra Buck who survives.
Bob was a 1976 graduate of Milton High School.
He had been employed by the Milton Shoe Factory, Crest Homes and Integrity Building Systems.
Bob belonged to many outdoor organizations, most notably Ducks Unlimited, a life member of the NRA, and was a black belt in karate.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five sons and four daughters-in-law, Jason Poff, of West Milton, Jeromy and Amber Poff, of Mifflinburg, Nathan and Patricia Poff, of Milton, Pete III and Juanita Keefer, of New Columbia, and Stephen and Angela Keefer, of Kratzerville; 10 grandchildren, Zachary Poff, Ryan Poff, Karissa Heckman, Colin Heckman, Kari Sones, Cody Murphy, Katrina Sones, Katelyn Keefer, Bethany Keefer and Cheyenne Smith; three brothers, John Derr, of Watsontown, Art Derr, of Milton, and Jim Derr, of Milton; and two sisters, Susan Bearce, of Milton and Robin Rice, of Montandon.
Funeral services were held Wed., May 19, at the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton. The Rev. Butch Woolsey officiated.

Anna R. Schreck
Anna R. Schreck, 89, of 5450 Furnace Road, Lewisburg for the past 56 years, entered into rest at 8:25 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2010, at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg.
She was born Dec. 11, 1920, in Lewisburg, a daughter of the late John M. and Katie (Wolfe) Reamer. On Dec. 25, 1938, in Kelly Township with the Rev. R.L. Lundy performing the ceremony, she married James E. Schreck who preceded her in death on Dec. 16, 2002.
Anna was employed at Yorktowne Kitchens, Mifflinburg, for many years. Earlier in life, she worked at Philco Ford, Watsontown, and Royal Imprints, Lewisburg.
Anna enjoyed bowling, gardening, baking, and cooking for her family.
Surviving are four sons and daughters-in-law, Dean M. and Sandra L. Schreck, of Sunbury, Paul M. and Diana A. Schreck, of Lewisburg, Carl E. and Pauline F. Schreck, of Mifflinburg, and Steve R. and Magdaline E. Schreck, of Mount Pleasant Mills; two daughters and sons-in-law, Janette L. and Harold L. Diehl, of Montgomery, and Debra K. and Roger L. Sauers, of Mifflinburg; four brothers and one sister-in-law, John Nelson and Carol Reamer, of Mifflinburg, Luther Reamer, of Millersburg, Lee Reamer, of Aaronsburg, and Arthur Reamer, of Muncy; one sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and George Richard Sr., of Penns Creek; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Gerald G. and Robert Schreck; one daughter, Sandra Schreck; two brothers, Elwood and Francis Reamer; and one sister, Charlotte Styers.
Friends and family are welcome from 10 to 11 a.m. Thurs., May 20, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Road, Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11, with the Rev. Michael Reece officiating.
Burial will be in the New Berlin Cemetery.

Brian Keith Royer
Brian Keith Royer, 42, of Buck Earl Lane, passed away on Thursday morning, May 13, 2010, at his home.
He was born Feb. 27, 1968, in Lewisburg, a son of the late Kenneth H. Royer and Patsy J. (Miller) Royer.
Brian had been employed in the construction industry.
He was a social member of the New Berlin American Legion Post.
Brian was gifted artistically in drawing and painting.
He enjoyed hunting and racing, especially go-karts.
Surviving are one sister, Pamela M. Roush and her companion, Rick Reid of Mifflinburg; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Keith A. Royer and his companion, Seglinde Hanson of Richfield, and Scott A. and Christine Royer of Middleburg; his companion, Margaret Botts of Middleburg; his stepmother, Thelma Royer of Middleburg; nieces; and nephews.
Funeral services were held Mon., May 17, at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg. The Rev. Alan K. Walter officiated.
A private burial was in the New Berlin Cemetery.
Jean M. Hoffmaster
Jean M. Hoffmaster, 79, of 463 Palman Road, Millmont passed away peacefully surrounded by family at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2010, at 134 Market Street, Mifflinburg, the residence of her daughter, Georgina Fujimoto.
She was born March 13, 1931, in Lewisburg, a daughter of the late Boyd and Alice (Gearhart) Mitchell. On May 5, 1954, in Fredrick, Md., she was united in marriage to David L. Hoffmaster who preceded her in death on June 7, 1994.
Jean was a 1948 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.
She was employed at the former JPM, Lewisburg, where she worked for 36 years until her retirement in 1997.
Jean enjoyed attending to her dogs and cats.
She is survived by three children and one son-in-law, Gary B. Hoffmaster and his companion, Sherry Showers, of Millmont, Georgina Hoffmaster Fujimoto, of Mifflinburg, and Melanie Hoffmaster-Starr and David Starr, of Middletown; four grandchildren, Jeremy Hoffmaster, Gina Hoffmaster, Kristen Fujimoto, and Hunter Starr; two great-grandchildren; Kyley Hoffmaster and Bryar Hoffmaster; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Shirley Kerstetter, of Mifflinburg, Audrey VonNeida, of Hartleton, and Dawne and Mark Shreckengast, of Millmont.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, Chad Hoffmaster.
Funeral services were held Mon., May 17, at Schwartz-Adamo Funeral and Cremation Services, 247 Chestnut Street, Mifflinburg. The Rev. Richard M. VonNeida and the Rev. Mark Messner officiated.
Interment was in the Hartleton Cemetery.

Betty R. Cresswell-Andree
Betty R. Cresswell-Andree, 83, a longtime resident of Old Turnpike Road, Lewisburg, Lewisburg, died peacefully Friday, May 14, 2010 at Sunbury Community Hospital.
She was born on March 15, 1927, the tenth of eleven children in Gratz, to the late Charles G. and the late Minnie Hoffman. She married Albert H. Cresswell in October 1946, a locally well-known building contractor, who preceded her in death in 1980. In 1981 she married Rev. John Andree, who also preceded her in death on Oct. 4, 1991.
Betty was actively involved in her church and community. For many years she served as Sunday school teacher and church board member of the Mifflinburg Church of the Nazarene, Mifflinburg. She was also an active board member of the local Crisis Pregnancy Center and a former volunteer at Evangelical Community Hospital.
She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She always had a generous heart among family and friends. Betty was known for her cooking and baking skills. She loved the change of seasons, but was especially fond of summer when she could tend her roses. She will always be remembered as an encourager to anyone in need of an uplifting word. During the last several months of her life she was well cared for by the staff at Nottingham Village Nursing Center and Assisted Care Facility in Northumberland. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
Betty is survived by two biological children, a son and daughter in-law, Ted A. and Sandy Cresswell, of Mifflinburg, and a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Ken Williams, of Charlotte, N.C.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three step-children from her marriage to Rev. John Andree; Paul Andree and his wife Gay, of Rochester, NY; Judy Mann and her husband Merritt, of Pembroke, Mass. and Carol Calhoon and her husband Tim, of Linden, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. Dottie Yerger, of Winfield and Mrs. Lucille King, of Mifflinburg.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was predeceased by a daughter, Beverly Ann Cresswell, in 1952 and a granddaughter, Nicole Ann Cresswell in 2002.
Funeral services were held Wed., May 19, at Mifflinburg Church of the Nazarene, 12 East Market St., Mifflinburg. Her pastor, Rev. Wayne Krell officiated.
Burial will follow in the Lewisburg Cemetery.
