James N. Correll
    James N. Correll, 84, of 1019 St. Paul St., Lewisburg passed away early Monday morning, May 18, 2009, at Rolling Hills Manor, Millmont.
    A native of Bethlehem, he was born April 21, 1925, a son of the late Sylvester and Jane (Wein) Correll. He was married to the former Marilyn Adams, of West Milton, who survives.
    Jim was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Navy in the Pacific from 1942-46.
    He retired as a manager from the Harrisburg office of Bell Telephone Co. in 1981 after 35 years of service.
    In his earlier days, he played for a band in Bethlehem and later played in the Bell Telephone Band in Harrisburg. Jim and his family moved to Costa Rica for six years after his retirement, then moved to Lewisburg. Jim drove school bus in the Milton area for two years and then for five years for the Lewisburg Area School District through Amity Leasing.
    Jim was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Lewisburg, serving as usher, singing in the choir and helping in other areas as needed. He was an emergency medical technician with the William Cameron Engine Company, a member and past president of the Lewisburg Lions Club, a member and past commander of Kratzer-Dull American Legion Post 182, Lewisburg, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7715 and had volunteered for the Union County Chapter of the American Red Cross.
    In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, James N. Correll Jr. and Thomas Correll, both of Harrisburg, and Roger Correll of Harmony; two daughters, Susan Saxton of Columbia Cross Roads and Karen Correll of Wolburn, Mass.; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and two nieces and one nephew.
    He was preceded in death by one brother in infancy in 1930 and one sister in 1979.
    Friends and relatives will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, May 21, at the John H. Shaw III Funeral Home, Market and Eighth streets, Lewisburg, followed by the funeral at 11 with his pastor, the Rev. Paula M. Gustafson, officiating.
    Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Montgomery. Military services will be provided by Lewisburg area veterans.

Ethel L. “Terri” Derr
    Ethel L. “Terri” Derr, 86, formerly of 804 Market St., Mifflinburg, for 25 years, passed away at 5:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at The Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove, where she had resided for three years.
    She was born March 20, 1923, in Allenwood, a daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth “Bessie” (Hall) Waring. On Sept. 15, 1942, in Tampa, Fla., she married Dr. Frederick S. Derr. She and her husband lived in Williamsport until 1957 when their family moved to the Laurelton area. Her husband preceded her in death in 1993.
    Terri was a graduate of Montgomery High School. She then graduated from Williamsport School of Nursing in July 1945.
    She was employed as a Registered Nurse for the Union-Snyder County Headstart Program from 1964 to 1983. After her retirement, she worked part-time at Rolling Hills Manor, Millmont. Terri volunteered for the American Red Cross and area food banks.
    She was a member of the Pike’s Peak School Reunion Club.
    Terri enjoyed traveling to Europe with her husband and later in life traveled on many cruises with her niece, Ann Heether. She also enjoyed attending community events with her many friends, and attending sporting and social activities with her grandchildren.
    “Grandma”was a beloved “favorite person” of all her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren loved their “Gigi.
    Her four sons will always remember their mother as a loving force in their lives who was willing to “share her opinion” even when it sometimes required the help of a wooden spoon or spatula. Terri will best be remembered for her wit and wisdom that she freely shared with family and friends.
    Surviving are four sons and three daughters-in-law, Fred and Joan Derr of Blackwood, N.J., Bob and Linda Derr of Selinsgrove, Steve and Leslie Derr of Annapolis, Md., and Thomas Derr of Philadelphia; six grandchildren and their spouses, Chris and Karen, Jeff and Stephanie, Brian and Laurie, Brett and Tracey, Eric and Becky, and Kristin and Adam; three great-grandchildren, Tayla, Noah, and Payton; several nieces and nephews; and grandbird, Sweet Pea.
    She was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Thomas, and Robert Waring; two sisters, Elizabeth Heether, and Alma Rogers; and one grandson, Burke Derr.
    Funeral services were held Sat., May 16,  at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Road, Mifflinburg, where a celebration of Terri’s life was conducted at 6 p.m.

Crystal L. Snyder
    Crystal L. Snyder, 54, of Zechman Drive, Selinsgrove passed away on Saturday morning, May 16, 2009, at her home surrounded by her family.
    She was born Oct. 3, 1954, in Lewisburg, a daughter of Shirley J. (Snyder) Pick of Mifflinburg and the late Bruce S. Pick. On Oct. 25, 1990, she married Edward E. Snyder, who survives.
    Crystal attended Mifflinburg High School and later earned her GED.
    She gained employment through various local companies including, Taralee of New Berlin, Townsend of Hummel’s Wharf, Wood-Mode in Kreamer and National Beef, Hummel’s Wharf where she had currently been employed.
    Crystal’s hobbies included cooking, crocheting, attending yard sales, fishing and word searches. Her greatest pleasure came from attending family activities and taking care of everyone around her.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Christine and Michael Wetzel of Mifflinburg, and Christina Shallenberger and companion, Alberto Ramos of McClure; one son and daughter-in-law, William F. and Tiffany A. Stahl of Mifflinburg; one stepson, David Snyder of Selinsgrove; one stepdaughter, Pamela Pasquariello and husband James of Bethlehem; eight grandchildren, Kimberly and Heather Wetzel, Elicia and Erika Shallenberger, Tequilla Kerstetter, Chevelle and T. Stahl and Shane Snyder; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Carol Ramsey of Mifflinburg, Diana and Robert Forbes of Winfield; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Leonard and Maretta Pick of Milton, and Daniel and Tammy Pick of Beavertown; and one brother-in-law, Harrison Ramsey of Millmont.
    She was preceded in death by one brother, Stanley Pick, one sister, Shirley Horner, one brother-in-law, Ammon Horner, and stepson, James Snyder.
    Funeral services were held Tues., May 19, at the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove. The Rev. Alan K. Walter officiated.
    Burial followed in Lincoln Chapel Cemetery, Laurelton.
