Randall F. Coble
Randall F. Coble, 49, of 157 Oberdorf Lane, Mifflinburg entered into rest at 7:30 a.m. Friday, May 21, 2010, at his home.
He was born Jan. 26, 1961, in Lewisburg, a son of the late Ralph Thomas and Dolores June (Maxfield) Coble.
Randall was a 1979 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.
He was employed at C.M.C. Joist Co, New Columbia for 15 years.
Randall enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends at his cabin in Forest Hill.
Surviving are his life partner of 26 years, Norma J. Reich, of Mifflinburg; one son, Nelson P. Coble, one daughter, Maggie J. Coble, both of Mifflinburg; one brother, Ralph T. Coble Jr., of Vista, Calif; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosanna and Gary Federicks, of Lewisburg, Irene and Barry Dressler, of Sunbury, and Linda and Steven Ragsdale, of Harrisburg; and one grandson, Jordan M. Coble, of Mifflinburg.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Matthew C. Coble, and one sister, Mary Haught.
Funeral services were held Tues., May 25, at Forest Hill United Methodist Church. Pastor Richard DeVett officiated.
Burial was in the Forest Hill Cemetery.

William F. “Bill” Brooks
William F. “Bill” Brooks, 77, of Washington Street, Turbotville passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg where he had been admitted last Saturday after falling at home.
He was born Jan. 23, 1933 in Jersey Shore, a son of the late William R. and Marguerite F. (Gohl) Brooks. He was married to the former Arnella J. Larson for 26 years until her death June 22, 1984. On Dec. 31, 1988, he married the former Carolyn M. Platt and they have celebrated 21 years of marriage.
A 1951 graduate of Jersey Shore High School, he attended Lycoming College and graduated in 1957 from Simmons School of Mortuary Science, Syracuse N.Y. He was a veteran of the Army, having served during the Korean War.
A licensed funeral director for over 40 years, he had worked at the former Rearick Funeral Home, Jersey Shore until 1967. He owned and operated William F. Brooks Funeral Home, Turbotville for 31 years until transferring ownership to his daughter, Julie in 1998. He continued working part-time until retiring in 2002. Earlier in life he had also been a funeral home inspector for the State Board of Funeral Directors. He was a life member of the Central Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association. a charter member of the Turbotville Lions Club and the Fort Freeland Heritage Society, a member of the LaBelle Vallee Lodge 233 F&AM, Jersey Shore, the Williamsport Consistory and Warrior Run Royal Arch Chapter 246, Watsontown, the Milton Elks Lodge 913, the Milton American Legion Post 71, and the disabled American veterans. In 1985, he was awarded Citizen of the Year by the Muffley-Huff Post 8206, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Turbotville.
He was currently serving on the board of directors at the Turbotville National Bank.
Bill loved being outdoors and spent many hours hunting deer, bears and turkeys or just driving around enjoying wildlife. He enjoyed working around his cabin in the Muncy Hills when he was able and loved spending time with his friends at Fred Yagel’s Cabin. In more recent years he looked forward to going to Yoder's Restaurant in Millmont for dinner and gospel music concerts. He always kept a beagle at home, and loved his current pets, Febe and Fawn.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law Francie and Wayne Appleman, of Turbotville, Carolyn J. Brooks, Milford, Del., and Julie A. Brooks and Steve Tetreault, of Hughesville; two step-sons and their spouses, Brian K. and Cathy Lambert, of Hughesville, and Michael R. and Amy Lambert, of Montoursville; one step-daughter, Lori A. Vognetz, of Watsontown; four grandchildren, Abby Schrack, Christy Hope, Stephanie Doebler, Sean Tetreault; eight step-grandchildren, Brittany, Katelyn, Jacob, and A.J. Lambert; Heather Erb, Brandi, Carrie, and Hannah Vognetz; three great-grandsons, Chase, Grady and Ryan Hope; and three step-great-grandchildren, Lane, Anna, and Grady Erb.
Friends are were invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wed, May 26, when the Turbotville Lions Club conducted a memorial service at 8. Visititation is also beingheld from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday followed by the funeral at 11 a.m., at Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway St., Turbotville, with the Rev. Michael C. Reese of Delaware Run Wesleyan Church, officiating, and the Rev. Ben Lapp, retired pastor, assisting.
Burial with full military honors will follow in Turbotville Cemetery.
The family suggests contributions in his memory be made to Delaware Run Wesleyan Church, 5570 Musser Lane, Watsontown, PA 17777.
David Greene Shively
David Greene Shively, 89, passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 surrounded by family and friends.
He was born on April 27, 1921 in Millmont, a son of the late Jacob and Florence (Catherman) Shively.
He was a veteran of World War II.
David was a member of the Mechanicsburg Church of the Brethren.
His favorite hobbies were golfing and woodworking and he made many keepsakes for his family. He loved family gatherings and spending time at his place in the mountains.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Vivian (Burkhart); his daughters, Christina Marjorie and Rebecca Bailey and her husband Jeffrey; stepsons Harry Mensch and Fred Souders and their spouses; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and one step-great grandchild. Also surviving are three brothers, Donald, George, and Harold Shively.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie (Libby) Shively and their son, Carey G. Shively; his second wife, Geraldine (Zechman) Shively; a stepson, Wayne C. Mensch; and brothers, Edgar and Bill Shively.
Funeral services were private.

Arlene R. Walter
Arlene R. Walter, 83, of 1977 Paxtonville Road, Middleburg passed away at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at her home.
She was born Aug. 17, 1926, in Coburn, a daughter of the late George G. and Rosa (Musick) Riland. On April 14, 1956, she married Carson E. Walter, who preceded her in death on May 20, 2008.
Arlene was a 1944 graduate of Mifflinburg High School and before her marriage had been employed by Hunts Sewing Factory, New Berlin.
She was a very active member of Christ “Hassinger’s Brick” Lutheran Church, Middleburg, where she taught Sunday school and served as church organist for 50 years.
She was a 4-H leader for many years.
Arlene enjoyed sewing and sewed in her home for other people. She also enjoyed helping her extended family in many work projects.
She is survived by two sons, Marvin E. and Kenneth G. Walter, both of Middleburg; one sister, Phyllis J. Grove, of Selinsgrove; one brother-in-law and three sisters-in-law, Theresa Riland, of Harrisburg, Helen Swope, of Selinsgrove, and Elwood and Erma Walters, of Kreamer; and 10 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Marlin Riland; one sister, Florence Maurer; and three brothers-in-law, Lawrence Grove, Donald Swope and Lewis Maurer.
Funeral services were held Sat., May 22, in Christ “Hassinger’s Brick” Lutheran Church, Route 522, Middleburg. The Rev. Gary W. Owens officiated.
Burial was in Valley View Cemetery, adjoining the church.

Joseph S. Yuschok
Joseph S. Yuschok, 86, of Raymond Lane, Lewisburg, died Monday, May 17, 2010. He was married for 54 years to Anna (Chacho), who survives.
He was born in Woodbine, N.J., the youngest of nine children born to Thomas and Efrozia (Smarkula) Yuschok.
After graduating from Woodbine High School in 1942, he served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps from 1946 to 1947. He earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Rutgers University in 1950 with a major in economics and a minor in psychology.
Mr. Yuschok worked from 1950 to 1968 at the Grand Union Company where he was promoted through the ranks from management trainee to division real estate manager. While he lived in Leonia, N.J., with his family, he served as president of the Men’s Neighborhood Association, vice president of the Board of Education, borough shade tree commissioner and on the Boy Scout Council.
In 1969 he relocated to Lewisburg to work for Weis Markets. He served as president of the Industrial Management Club in 1977. He volunteered at Boy Scout Camp Karoondinha and was a Brotherhood Member of the Order of the Arrow.
He enjoyed traveling, gardening and volunteering with Community Literacy. He was a charter member of Lewisburg Area Men’s Barbershop Singers (LAMBS), which later became the West Branch Barbershop Chorus, where he sang bass for 34 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Thomas Joseph and Constance Paris Yuschok of Ormond Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren Joseph S. and Annahart Yuschok, both of Ormond Beach, Fla.; and a daughter and sonin-law, Dr. Theresa Yuschok and Lee S. Lawrence of Durham, N.C.
Funeral services were held Thurs., May 20, at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg. The Rev. Ken Paulhamus of Christ Wesleyan Church, Milton officiated.
Interment followed in Lewisburg Cemetery.
