Henry Lee Zortman
Henry Lee Zortman, 65, of 337 Industrial Park Road, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2012, at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia.
A native of Union County, he was born June 29, 1946, in Lewisburg, a son of the late Elwood and Alice (Klingman) Zortman. He was the fiancee of Joanne Hulsizer for almost 26 years.
Henry was a graduate of Mifflinburg High School and spent four years in the Navy after graduation.
He retired from ConAgra, Milton, after 44 years of service.
Henry enjoyed NASCAR, long rides in the mountains, crossword puzzles and Scrabble.
In addition to his fiancee, he is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Kenny Zortman, of Mifflinburg, and Tony and Wendy Zortman, of Lebanon; two grandchildren, Emily and Ryan; four stepchildren, Bob Hulsizer and wife, Sandy, of Milton, Tabatha Hulsizer, of Sunbuy, Angela Gardiner and husband, Michael, of Watsontown, and Nick Hulsizer and wife, Andrea, of Watsontown; 17 stepgrandchildren, Cody, Natasha, Cortney, Nevin, Nathan, Corey, Alecia, Colby, Andreyonna, Austin, Cadence, Melody, Harper, Jay, Lee, Mason and Lincoln; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Abilynn, Slade and Rylee; and five siblings, Rosemary Zortman, Ruth Ann Hixson, Bob Zortman, Joe Zortman and Allison Zortman.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Carol.
Friends and relatives will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 31 at the John H. Shaw III Funeral Home, Market and Eighth streets, Lewisburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday.
Burial will follow in the Montandon Cemetery with military services provided by the Lewisburg area veterans.
Richard W. Hoover Jr.
Richard W. Hoover Jr., 56, of South Third Street, West Milton passed away on Monday morning, May 21, 2012, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
He was born Aug. 29, 1955, in Louisville, Ky., a son of the late Richard W. Sr. and Pauline (Blake) Hoover.
Richard was a 1974 graduate of Milton High School and a 1976 graduate of Williamsport Area Community College.
He previously worked at the JPM Co., Lewisburg, and at the time of his passing had been employed by RiverWoods, Lewisburg, since June 21, 2004.
He was a member of United in Christ Lutheran Church in rural Lewisburg, where he was a lector, an assisting minister and had taught Sunday school. He was a member of the Mifflinburg Rotary Club, where he would have been president in June.
Richard was an avid cat lover, especially his cat Tilly.
He is survived by one sister, Phyllis Hoover Theriot, of Jennings, La.; one brother, Jeffrey S. Hoover, of Broussard, La.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 25, at United in Christ Lutheran Church, 1875 Churches Road, Lewisburg. The Rev. Leah D. Schade officiated.
Burial followed in Milton Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the care of the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton.
Betty J. Fogel
Betty J. Fogel, 81, of Selinsgrove, formerly of Beaver Springs, passed away at 12:58 a.m. Sunday, May 27, 2012, at the Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove.
She was born Sept. 26, 1930, in Selinsgrove, the daughter of the late Grant and Irene (Campbell) Stahl. In 1950, she married Glenn N. Fogel, who preceded her in death in 1991.
Betty attended Sunbury High School and graduated from South Williamsport High School.
After Betty’s children were grown, she had worked at Kauffman’s Furniture, Lewistown as an interior decorator.
Betty was a member of Beaver Lutheran Church, Beaver Springs, where she volunteered at the Lenten breakfast and Bible school. She was a former member of the Women’s Club, Beaver Springs.
She enjoyed travel getaways. Her family was the great joy of her life. She enjoyed family gatherings and cooking for her family and attending their sporting events and activities.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Christy and Dale Erb, of McAlisterville; four sons and daughters-in-law, Craig B. and Dora Fogel, of Selinsgrove, Glenn K. and Leann Fogel, of Mifflinburg, Mark S. and Gina Fogel, of Wyalusing, and Eric N. and Jodi Fogel, of Hummelstown; nine grandchildren, Jason Erb and wife Christina, Justin Erb and wife Alana, Jarryd Erb, Carrie Nestor and husband Justin, Keith, Katy, Drew, Abby and Brody Fogel; and three great-grandchildren, Aiden, Holden and Grant.
She was preceded in death by one brother, James Stahl.
Friends and family will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, May 31, at the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove, followed by the funeral at 11 with the Rev. Nathan Baker-Trinity officiating.
Burial will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.

Gary L. Hulsizer
Gary L. Hulsizer, 59, formerly of Montandon, died Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Manor Care in Sunbury.
Born in Lewisburg on March 17, 1953, he was the son of Robert L. Sr. and Anna (Leiter) Swartz Hulsizer.
Gary was a 1972 graduate of the Milton High School and was a truck driver working for S & L Services and Lisa Express.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his Harley motorcycles, farm shows and spending time with his family.
He is survived by a daughter, Vicki (Stahl) Ebersole and her husband Scott, of Catawissa; a son, Brian Stahl, of Dewart; five grandchildren, Chelsey, Carly and Cortney Stahl, and Emily and Jared Ebersole; two brothers, Larry Swartz and his wife Janet, of Milton, and Charles “Sam” Hulsizer and his companion Linda Englehardt, of Mifflinburg; and a sister, Peg Linn and her husband Bill, of Milton.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth Hulsizer, Robert Hulsizer Jr. and Ricky Hulsizer; and a sister, Mary Stewart.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 29, at the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton. The Rev. Chad E. Carter officiated.
Burial was in the Harmony Cemetery.
Donald E. “Butch” Newman
Donald E. “Butch” Newman, 64, of Mahoning Street, Milton, died Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
Born June 17, 1947, in Lewisburg, he was a son of the late Robert L. Sr. and Blanche L. (Erb) Newman. He married the former Donna Thomas. Together they celebrated 20 years of marriage, before her death in 1994.
A 1965 graduate of Warrior Run High School, he worked at the former Philco and then Zenith Corp., Watsontown and Yorktown, Mifflinburg.
Mr. Newman was a member of God’s Missionary Church, New Columbia, where he served on the church board. He was also a member of the Milton Senior Action Center.
Surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Robert L. Jr. and Vicki Newman of New Columbia; and two nephews, Robert L. III and Mindy Newman of Turbotville and Ryan Newman of New Columbia.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 24, at God’s Missionary Church, 852 Ridge Road, New Columbia. Officiating were his ministers, Pastor Matthew Ellison, assisted by Pastor Steve Miller.
Burial followed in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
The family suggest memorial contributions be made to God’s Missionary Church, 852 Ridge Road, New Columbia, PA 17856.
Arrangements are under the care of Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home.
