More than 100 kids, ages three to sixth grade, sailed on a High Seas Expedition at Mifflinburg United Methodist Church last week. During their voyage, they helped local charity Kelsey’s Dream make life better for children with pediatric cancer.

Library seeks two new trustees

The Board of Trustees of Herr Memorial Library invites applications for two open positions. The library, which is located in Mifflinburg, is an independent member of the federated Union County Library System. It is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees who are responsible for overseeing the library’s management, operation, and maintenance.

Library names new director

After 15½ years as director of the Herr Memorial Library, Jeanne Roberts is retiring at the end of July. Kelly Walter, the head of children’s services and program coordinator for the library for the past five years, has been hired as the new director.

Mifflinburg’s annual 4th of July Pet Parade saw 42 youngsters, their parents and pets parade from Market St. to the 5th St. park, bringing smiles to the many on-lookers watching the unusual menagerie. Although the number of participants was down, due to the heat, the variety was quite impressive.
